What it's about:
Violet must risk her life to join the rider's quadrant instead of joining the scribes, the safe quadrant that she's trained her whole life to join. She's surprised to find how well she fits in with these fierce warriors and people she once thought were traitors.

What I thought:
I absolutely loved my re-read! This was my favorite book of 2023 for good reason. I'm just as obsessed with it the second time through. Xaden is still one of my favorite book boyfriends too.

  • This re-read was just as amazing as the first time
  • There were so many moments I had forgotten that I loved
  • The nickname for Violet is still a favorite of mine
  • The sad part was just as devastating a second time around
  • I love Xaden so much
  • Dain still very much irritates me
  • Tairn is still one of my favorite characters because he has a great sense of humor

🎧 Audiobook Thoughts: the graphic audio was amazing! I would definitely recommend this format. The sound effects and music really added to the experience, and I loved having different narrators for all the characters. It felt like listening to a movie. I’ve got to say that it’s a bit awkward listening to the kissing scenes lol, but I skipped over the spicy parts 😅

🌶️ most of the spice in this book is easy to skip over; however, sometimes the characters think back to those moments and those thoughts pop up randomly.

Quotes I liked:

There's only you, Violence." - Xaden
"

"I've wanted you since the first second I saw you, Violence." - Xaden
"

"There is no me without you." - Xaden
"

"I would rather lose this entire war than live without you, and if that means I have to prove myself over and over, then I'll do it. You gave me your heart, and I'm keeping it." - Xaden

I loved this book, and so far every book in this series has been 5⭐️

This is the third book in this series (if you don’t count the novella) and follows the story of Val and Chevy.

This book can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading the whole series!

Read if you like:

🏘️ small town romances
👫🏻 the roommates trope
🥰 clean romances

I loved the relationship between Val & Chevy. There was so much pining and secret feelings (that were actually pretty obvious).

There were so many cute & funny moments including CVS, the welcome party, & the laundry disaster.
