Thank you to Goodreads and Soho Teen for sending me an ARC of this book. All opinions are honest and my own.

This own voices novel helped me understand how hard it can be to feel out of place and ostracized because of your race.

Even though I haven’t had to experience the things that the author faced, I could still relate to her. I could understand the feeling of being chosen as a partner just because you’re good at school, and I’ve often felt like an outsider.

Considering how short this book is, I was still able to connect well with the main character. However, I didn’t feel like I really got to know much about the other characters in the story.

Overall, I would recommend this book.

⚠️ CONTENT WARNINGS: racism, smoking, underage drinking, mention of drunk driver killing someone, bullying, mild language

I won this book in a giveaway by the author, and I’m so glad that I did!

This was a really cute, clean adult romance, and it included cake!

I found it interesting to learn about the cake decorating business. I also could relate to Hope’s perfectionist tendencies.

Thank you NetGalley and Underlined for the e-ARC of this book.

There were a lot of cute and sweet moments in this book, and I loved all of the Christmas elements in the story.

This book definitely read more like a middle grade than a young adult novel, so I didn’t like it as much as I hoped I would.

Also, I’m not a big fan of the love triangle trope, so that element of the story was just okay.

As far as the ending, it was not at all what I was expecting, and to be honest, I really didn’t like it. It felt cheesy and didn’t really make any sense.

While the writing style wasn’t bad, I felt that all of the dialogue seemed unrealistic and forced.

Overall, this story was just okay.
