I liked this book a lot. It had a bit of a Percy Jackson feel to it, but with a lot more female empowerment.
The main character is an annoying teenager who is oblivious to his own emotions and everything around him. (I don't really like these kinds of characters.) He hardly notices what is going on around him, I'm not surprised that he did not know he was bi. The grandmother's comments were offensive, but she was still funny in a Oscar Wilde kind of way ("a handbag?"). Seriously, the story was okay, but it was only the humour that saved it from getting 2 stars. Well, that and the fact that it felt realistic.
De vorige poëziegeschenken vond ik tegenvallen, maar deze keer zaten er mooie gedichten in. Vooral 'WOORDEN, WOORDEN, WOORDEN ...' (HAMLET, SHAKESPEARE) vond ik erg sprekend.
Okay, this is my very first Miles Morales as Spider-man comic, and I love him. Miles is absolutely the kind of character I like to see behind the mask of Spider-man. He's a bit geeky, struggling to combine school and superhero-business, and is a combination of serious and silly. The story is good and I'd love to read more about him. His mother and grandmother are funny, and his dad seems to have an interesting backstory. This was also the first time I ever saw Jessica Jones in a comic book, so I was kinda fangirling over that too.
The story is okay, but I really don't like the artwork. It's kinda flat in the mid 90's sort of way. I didn't like that artstyle back then and I still don't like it. The full page artwork was beautiful though.

Spider-man will always be my favorite superhero. I really enjoyed reading these old comics! They're a bit ancient, with flaws that should be left in the past, but the stories are good. I always thought some of the bad guys in the Spider-man comics weren't that hard to defeat, but this book changed my mind.
