⭐️3.5⭐️ I found the story mildly interesting. My favorite part about the book was probably the secondary characters and the artwork. It’s an important story that deals with toxic relationships, but it just didn’t do much for me besides that. The execution of the plot is a solid 3 stars, but the artwork helped bump it up a bit for me.

Really well-crafted and detailed retelling of the Arthurian legend. As with most retellings, it's hard to be "surprised" by certain things because most big details are common knowledge, but the author still has a few surprises up her sleeve! I love the aspect of found-family in this novel and the focus on the importance of strength and unity between women.

*4.5* Wow, wow, wow. Such an incredible story about two women whose friendship and work partnership bind them as true family members. The journey they embark on together is solid, steady, and sort of heartbreaking. I'm definitely interested in reading whatever else Kayla Rae Whitaker writes.
