RE-READ 02/17/19: Still really enjoyed this first volume, and I’m excited to jump back into this series.

03/21/18: I had no clue what to expect going into this series, but it definitely did not disappoint. While reading through the first few pages, I was unsure if I was going to like it enough to want to continue. About 1/3 of the way through, however, it really picks up. I read it one sitting and am now craving Volume 2. The character are all so different yet don't clash, and it definitely looks like something that is taking place in the late 80s. The ending is such a cliffhanger, but is also satisfying. I would definitely recommend this book.

⭐️4.5⭐️ Wow wow wow. Once again I’m completely enamored by an Emma Mills book. Foolish Hearts has such complex characters, especially the secondary characters. I would read a book where the secondary characters are main characters in their own novels any day.

This is so dark and gritty. I really enjoyed the writing and storyline. This would have been a 5-star read definitely except for the fact that I couldn’t stand the two love interests for most of the book 😅, but it definitely is worth reading.

Really fun! A mix of mystery, paranormal/supernatural elements, and a great friendship!

OH. MY. GOODNESS. This is such a perfect follow-up to Lady Midnight, and it stole my soul from my body. Definitely a great lead in to Queen of Air and Darkness. Lord of Shadows expands greatly on characters, relationships first introduced in Lady Midnight, and is both engaging and riveting. It takes less time to get into than Lady Midnight, which is definitely a plus!

This book is stunning. It can be hard to handle at some points and it definitely doesn’t shy away from real-life topics that affect a lot of young girls in our country, especially young black girls. The plot-twist is well-crafted. I will definitely be reading more by Tiffany D. Jackson in the future!

SUPER cute. Really funny. I loved the development of the relationship between Darcy and Tom. I did feel, however, that the ending was a wee bit rushed. I’m looking forward to seeing what Sally Thorne’s next book will hold.

⭐️4.5⭐️ Bri is such a dynamic character who both understands her circumstances but has a lot to learn about the world and her place in it, both as a result of and in spite of her being a young black woman. I appreciated that, in this novel, Angie Thomas lightly explores the threat of violence that can come to young black women in America. The family dynamic is really amazing, and I do appreciate how much of Bri’s friendships is explored as she grows and changes as a person. I’m excited for the next Angie Thomas book!

Super fun, cute, and steamy. I thoroughly enjoyed the realistic nature of the ending, and I thought it was really satisfying. Marlee and Gavin are such a spectacular duo to follow. I’m excited to read Fumbled!
