Aww, I didn't expect this prequel to get to me like it did! Legends and Lattes was so wholesome and I didn't think a second book would be able to capture the same vibe, but it did and more. B&B has the most wonderful ragtag characters of a found family that just made my heart swell. I was completely won over by the end and was sobbing happy tears. Incredible.
Started out promising. An interesting premise with the game. Pretty fun to read. The twist wasn't very shocking, just a bit flat, but expected as there wasn't a big pool of characters.

This book will have my heart forever. And now I know for sure I have never seen the film! Will rectify that now. A beautiful book about sisterhood and the strength of familial bonds.

A really sweet and funny story of a girl turning 30 who feels she has never fulfilled her true potential. I found the humour relatable and laughed out loud a lot. Super cute.

I absolutely loved this!
I will start by saying that I was shocked at how dark this book is. It claims to be "charmingly whimsical" and "enchanting", and it is! But to get to the whimsy you're going to be fed some seriously cool nighmare fuel in the shape of some excellent folk tales. I LOVE me some folk horror, but I didn't know I was getting that with this 'fantasy' novel, and wow, was I happy when that's what I got. Yes it's about faeries, but they're pretty twisted and nasty. So, absolutely read this for the sweet fantasy story, but maybe check trigger warnings if you're not as twisted as me and would like to avoid scares and blood.
This book is a million times better than I expected. 😆

Graphic: Gore, Blood
Moderate: Kidnapping
So politically dense I'm struggling to feel enthusiastic.

Hallie Rubenhold does it again! An incredibly well researched insight into the lives of the women affected by H.H.Crippen's heinous schemes, especially Belle Elmore who's life was cut short. Belle was appallingly victim blamed by a misogynistic press in the early 20th Century. Rubenhold has brought the true Belle to the forefront of HER story and it's beautifully executed. The epilogue left me feeling utterly sick at how she was depicted by the press and lawmen, and how women still suffer the same treatment to this day. I'm glad Belle now has her rightful spotlight.
