A dark little take on a fairytale with Sleeping Beauty vibes. I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected to. The found family aspect was super cosy despite them being a completely mismatched crew. A lot of fun.

I think I'm obsessed with Hurley. This was such a slowly bubbling folk tale which kept me thoroughly unsettled from start to finish. I couldn't stop turning the pages to see where it was going. Thankfully I've come to expect that Hurley doesn't always give a firm resolution to his stories, but it's never unsatisfying, and in this case I was left thinking for days about Starve Acre and it's inhabitants.

A fascinating and traumatic look into the life of Costanza, known as Bernini's muse. The real story clearly may have been a lot more sinister than art historians interpret. What started out as a romantic historical love story, soon turned dark and the reasons the author wrote this make for such a poignant afterthought.

Great horror visuals towards the end. Bit slow to get there. Overall a pretty good small town horror story.
