I'm quickly becoming a fan of Nnedi Okorafor. I loved Future and Citizen and Letme Live. The only problem I have with this story is that it is way too short. This would make a great mini-series.
First let me just say I love Charlie. The character growth he goes through during the entire novel is more than most people go through in their entire lives. I like that it shows his flaws and weaknesses and then him overcoming them. I like that the relationships he has with his friends, co-workers, doctors is so genuine and real (flaws & all). The ending of the story had me tearing up. But Charlie made sure his (& Algernon's) legacy will live on. It was very interesting how much he remembered of his life the smarter he got. It's interesting that when he was "dumb" he viewed life through a child's innocence and didn't remember all the bad things people had done to him. This is definitely a classic that people should read.
I did not expect a young adult sci-fi to be so impactful and deep. Another book to add to my top favorites of this year. Brandon Sanderson continues to amaze. I am looking forward to Nov 26, 2019 for the sequel.
Wow! This reminds me so much of Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn series. I hope this is more than a two book series. I can't believe I have to wait till January 2020 to find out what happens to everybody.
