No 3rd act breakup! I thoroughly enjoyed this “practice romance” friends to lovers. Honestly, probably my favorite friends to lovers romance. I’m going to ramble, so I’m going to end there. Read this! It’s so sweet and light. 💕

I am so glad I tried this again as an audiobook. I was smiling and giggling so much! A true rivals-to-lovers, I enjoyed reading about Sage and Noah learned to open up to each other and learn to accept help, not just from each other but their friends and families as well. Both characters grew so much: from discussing issues that had been eating at them for years with their respective families and learning that asking for help and taking breaks are all healthy things. Also…no third act breakup!! They worked through their issues instead! 💗 highly recommend!

Informative and heartbreaking, this deep dive into the Black enslaved families who helped build up the Church is a must read. I had not heard of this specific group of people until this book. The research was thorough, and when the trail was lost, the author made sure to make note of it, often hypothesizing what could have happened or how the members of the family may have dealt with what came their way. The audio was well done!

A very sweet and honest end to the trilogy! I was looking forward to Iris and Angel’s story since finishing The Partner Plot last year, and it just made me smile. I loved the open and honest communication, the way it felt so natural between them. I enjoyed how Calla was a part of the story (as she should be!) but how we focused mostly on Angel and Iris, not the precocious 6 year old. It was beautiful. 💜

I genuinely enjoyed this audiobook. You can tell the author (also the narrator) is comfortable with the topic and narrating this book. It felt very stream of consciousness, more like a bunch of podcast episodes (of which I am aware the author has) put together than a cohesive book, but the anecdotes were fun and the information provided was interesting. It was at times funny, depressing, and downright aggravating. If you’re a 90s kid or enjoy 90s music, I think you’d get a kick out of this. Now to check out the podcast!

A must read for those who want a glimpse into the Harlem Renaissance and some of the Black and queer icons who helped shape our culture. The audio was fantastic!

It was interesting and kept my attention, but I don’t think I really understood what I was reading. Could be overthinking things; this book just wasn’t for me. Narrators were great, though!

What the actual fuck did I just read? This book just brought an old, previously banished fear of mine back to the forefront. A very well crafted story with so many twists and turns…a true mind fuck. Highly recommend!

I really loved this book. The audio is fantastic and has a great group of narrators who help keep the different characters/parts of the story separate. The format is super interesting, switching between Zelu’s perspective, interviews with friends and family, and her sci-fi story. I’ll definitely need time to digest this one, but I highly recommend checking it out. Also that last chapter was freaking amazing. 🤩
