Alice Hoffman can do no wrong. I love the Owens family and their witchy ways. This was an amazing prequel after knowing and loving the first book/movie for so many years. I'm so glad Hoffman has continued to share more of the Owens' story. Looking forward to Maria Owens' story coming out in October!
UPDATE: added a star to make it 5 because I cannot stop thinking about this book!
Alice Hoffman has a magical and enticing way with words that draws you in. It's a very interesting concept to go through little short stories of the same town. I loved learning about the characters as children and then adults. It was happy, sad, funny, and just overall a very good story!

This book came highly recommended so perhaps the hype got too big. I was very "whelmed" by this story. The characters were pretty unlikable, and the ending wasn't all that shocking to me. It was just a miss for me, unfortunately.
3 stars....
The entire story is pretty far fetched. I cannot believe someone could be THAT naive about the world. If this book hadn't fit a prompt for a reading challenge I'm doing so perfectly, I probably would have DNF'd it.
