Audra is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. I absolutely LOVED Pushing Her Luck and now I have really loved Crossing The Line as well. This is the first book that I have read from the Hard Driving series, and now I want to race out (ha- see what I did there.) and get the first two books in the series. Crossing the Line is the final book in the series, and each one of them can be read as a standalone.
Crossing the Line is the story of an up and coming journalist that is trying her hardest to make a name for herself, and a racing driver that is trying his hardest to create a positive image for himself in the racing community. I loved that each one of them was trying to prove themselves. Ty and Cori are awesome together, although I do have to say Cori made me a nail biting mess a bunch of times in the book. Because the story is told in dual narrative, we know what she is doing the whole time and I could feel her apprehension sinking into me as I read. I just wanted to scream no! and don't do it.
Crossing The Line is a book that will appeal to both fans of New Adult as well as Adult contemporary romances. I don't often get the opportunity to read a book featuring a race car driver, and I have to saw I loved it. I want more! So send me your recs! Ty is the sweetest guy. I was rooting for him since page one. I thought it was completely adorable how taken he was with Cori from the moment he first laid eyes on her.
Bottom line: If you like your romances with a healthy dose of sweetness (and spice) with lots of moments that will make you sigh and smile, Crossing the Line is a great book for you. And if you are a fan of racing, you have to check this book out. It's great!

Royal Enchantment is an adult fae novella by Lia Davis. A woman buys a new house, and unlocks a door to another land within it. The whole thing felt like an adult version of The Chronicles of Narnia, and I loved it. It is a novella, so I blew through this one really quickly, and I was left wanting more. In the coming weeks I am going to be reading and reviewing a handful of the books from this series. I am not sure if all of them are going to be novellas or not, but I kind of hope some of them will be full length stories, because that was my only regret with Royal Enchantment. I wanted more time with the characters.
If you love fae books, Royal Enchantment is one that you will want to check out. And further, the skeleton key series is one that I would recommend to all fans of fantasy and magic stories. I think you will be hard pressed to not find at least one of the books that appeals to you. I particularly love that there are a mix of age groups in the series. Something for fans of clean YA and adult alike.

Up in Flames is the final book in the new adult/adult contemporary romances series by Abbi Glines. It is hard to believe 1) that the rosemary beach series has 13 books in it, and 2) that I have not read a single one of them until Up in Flames. I have been a fan of Abbi Glines since she first published her very first book as an indie author. I have read every single one of her books, right up until this series. I have wanted to, they have been on my wish list since forever but there are just too many books and not enough time. Now that the series is over, I think I am going to buy the complete series and binge read them all.
But I think that I am in a very unique and interesting situation. I never got to know Nan from any of the other books. So I didn't know her as the town B personally. I went into this book with a clean Nan slate. And I think that gave me a very different reading experience. I liked Nan. I thought she was vulnerable and self aware and a cool girl. Up in Flames is an interesting read for me. I feel like I can almost split the book into two parts. The first 80% and the last 20%. The first 80% I loved everything about this story. It was a 6 star read for me. I loved the split narrative between Cope/Gannon, Nan and Major. I freakin' loved Gannon, and I thought Nan was great. But then Nan made a single decision about 80% into the book and I felt things spiraling from there. I felt like the end of the story was crazy. It lost a bit of its shiny excitement for me.
I still really enjoyed this book, but it was because I was still holding on to the first 80% of the story. I wanted to see more from Gannon's point of view because there is just something so irresistible about him. But he was far to silent for my liking. I wanted to get inside his head! A lot happens in the end of this book, and as much as I loved almost everything about Up in Flames, the end section is not included in that list. I liked how it ultimately ended but it was a bit of a crazy road getting there.
Bottom line: I loved getting to know Nan. And I really, really loved Cope. I came away from this book with a burning desire to immediately grab all of the other books in the series and binge read them.

Full Share is the first in the new adult romances series called Shore House by Eliza Freed. I love the idea of Shore House. It reminds me of Real World and Jersey Shore. Maybe not as crazy, but it certainly has its' own share of drama and slice of reality feeling. The house is packed with Full Shares and Half Shares. The full shares are the people that paid to be there the entire summer, the half shares can only come up every other weekend. Just as a side note.
I loved how many people they packed this beach house with. I think they said there were 13 people or something crazy like that. 2 bathrooms. But it did lead to some interesting situations. Some you could totally see coming from a mile away, and some not as obvious ones. I liked this mix of predictable and not so much. It kept me as a reader on my toes. The other thing it did, was of course, it was very tricky for me to keep track of all of these characters. I almost felt like I was walking into something mid series, and that I missed a bunch of the background, but that isn't the case. You just get dropped into the story right as all these new characters were showing up for the season.
I really liked a lot of the characters for different reasons. If I had to pick a favorite, I think initially it would have been Tank. (And maybe still is.) I also really love Nora. She is sarcastic and cynical and you learn that pretty immediately about her. I loved her voice. I thought Eliza Freed did a really magnificent job with writing her thoughts and dialogue. She is so snappy and quick.
Bottom line: Full Share is a new adult novel that I really loved, it had all the elements that I look for in my new adult romances, but at the same time, it didn't feel like just another book of more of the same. It felt fresh. And it was as addictive as reality TV for me. If that is a guilty pleasure of yours as well, you will love this book.

The Azure Kingdom is my favorite of the books I have read so far in the Skeleton Key series. It felt different and much more like a full length novel (because it was) than the previous two novellas I had read from the series. I also loved that this one had more of a high fantasy feel than a paranormal fantasy feel. The Azure Kingdom by Michelle Dare takes you to a fantasy world where kings and kingdoms are warring. I really liked that immediately there were knights from two very different kingdoms trying to convince Alison that she should be with them. I will admit that at the very start I was torn, but pretty quickly I jumped on board with team Luke.
The romance in The Azure Kingdom is excellent. It is all at once sweet and sexy. I am loving the Skeleton Key series more and more. I can't tell you how beyond thrilled I am that even though some of the books are on the shorter end, there are also longer stories in there. Thus far, I have been really impressed with the variety in these stories. And the covers. I love the key that is present on all of them, but other than that they are all very different, but at the same time they are very well done and fit very well together. The Azure Kingdom is the book to beat in this series. So far, out of the three that I have read, it is the clear winner. I can't wait to see what I think of the other books in the series.

Cameron. I have read and enjoyed a few of Chelsea's books in the past and I have always really enjoyed them. I think Brooks might be my favorite of all of them that I have read by her. Brooks is told in dual narrative between Brooks and Remi. It will appeal to fans of edgy small town romances. I know those two things hardly ever go together, but it works with these characters.
I liked Brooks a whole lot more than I liked Remi. She is just described as the kind of person that annoys me in real life. But her actions and her personality are very different. Her personality is a miss for me, but her actions and the way she is with Brooks, I really loved. You can tell that she can be thoughtful when she wants to be, and she is very talented. She is just a grump-a-saurous to the extreme.
Brooks though. Brooks, I loved! He was immediately smitten with Remi, and I found it to be totes adorb. I loved that Remi pushed Brooks to get back into his art. And I really liked how taken Brooks is with Remi. I wanted everything to work out for his benefit. Brooks is a super quick read. One that immediately drew me in, and before I knew it...I was done! I love a quick one sitting read that still gives me all the nice feelings. That is Brooks to a T.
I am a little concerned with how I am going to take to the rest of the books in the series. I am definitely interested in continuing on, but I didn't love the other brother I met- Avery. So it will be cool to see what Chelsea does with his story. If you are a fan of new adult romances, this is a solid read. it is sexy and fun.

I think this book will appeal to fans of both new adult and adult fiction, though technically I think it is cast as adult fiction. The characters are young enough that they can fall into either category. A fun fact about this book is that it is from a new publishing house from romance author powerhouse Marie Force. I enjoyed A Midsummer Night's Fling, and I cannot wait to see what the next books from this publishing house will be.
A Midsummer Night's Fling is told in dual narrative between Nicola and Max. Nicola and Max have some serious history, so I suppose you would categorize this book as second chance love, but really, it is like 5th chance love. They have had the kind of relationship that goes on for so long and goes through so many ups and ugly downs that it felt very, very realistic. I think everyone knows at least one couple like Nicola and Max. It left me happy on one hand that they were such real characters, but on the other hand, I was certainly left thinking at times that maybe they really shouldn't be together.
I liked that for a while you don't exactly know why they broke up. All the reader sees is a couple with insane chemistry. But as the book goes on, and the play gets closer and closer to going on, you learn more and more about why they broke up each time. And what I loved so much, and what made them so realistic, is that it was not just one of their faults. They each contributed to their demise in the past. I liked Nicola and Max a lot, and I loved trying to guess whether they were going to be fighting or making up next, but what I loved the most about A Midsummer Night's Fling is the whole setup and cast of supporting characters. I am really hoping that some of the secondary characters are going to get their own stories (and I am almost positive that they will). I am sure that because they don't have the super, super messy past that Nicola and Max did, that I will enjoy their stories even more. Eliza Walker is a great writer and she can write URST with the best of them. I can't wait to see what she can do with a couple that isn't quite as dysfunctional and already messed up. But there is something to say for how well Max and Nicola know each other. They have serious history. I did really enjoy their story. It felt like something I see in real life, but not something I have read about a bunch in books.
Bottom line: If you like your romances ultra realistic with a healthy side heaping of dysfunctional history, A Midsummer Night's Fling is the perfect book for you. The writing is great, and the setup for the series is going to be a hit. I can't wait to read more of the books. I enjoyed this one, but I met at least 3 or 4 secondary characters that I am already halfway in love with. I can't wait to read their stories.

The Prince's Bride is the second book in the adult contemporary romance series, Modern Fairytales, by Diane Alberts. The books in this series are not related at all, from what I can tell, and can each be read as complete standalones. The Prince's Bride felt like part second chance love, and part The Princess Diaries movie. (the second one where she has to get married.) I really enjoyed this book. It is like a modern fairytale.
The Prince's Bride is told in dual narrative between Leo and Alicia. I liked the twist of the second chance love between these two. They really were teenage sweethearts, except she has no idea he was a prince then. They go their separate ways and don't see each other again for another 10 years. It all seems like happenstance that they find one another again, but all of that is explained in the book. I really, really liked Leo. Alicia was a little bit of a block head. I loved her, but sheesh is the girl stubborn. I got it at first. but come on....She has got to give a little. Leo is very determined, and I loved that about him. I wanted him to let go of his stoic exterior a little bit more though, because the readers gets to see inside his head, and he is nothing like the emotionless exterior that he presents to the world. He is so kind and heartfelt and genuine that you just want to hug him. My heart broke for him in this story.
Bottom line: The Prince's Bride is a fun feel good read. I really enjoyed this one. I don't typically read many prince/millionaire/billionaire books, but this one was perfect for me because I love a second chance love story. And I loved how genuine Leo was, and how spunky Alicia was. If you are a fan of fairytales or of second chance love stories, you will enjoy The Prince's Bride. I know I did.

Where Sleeping Dragons Lie is an interesting book in the Skeleton Key series. I liked how different it felt from the other 5 or so books I have read in the series. First of all, this one was very much an action adventure. Second, a lot of the book took place in our world. Whereas, with the other stories, the main character discovers the skeleton key and unlocks the door almost immediately, this one was a bit of a search to find the key and to find out what is going on, and hat she seemingly was roped into.
What I also thought was different (though it didn't end up being too different, and that kind of bummed me out in and of itself.) was that I thought this book was not going to have any romance in it. I know that seems strange for me to say, but the plot was so focused on the adventure that I really didn't see any development of feelings between the main characters. Add that in with the fact that this is a fairly short novella, and my interest was piqued. I thought it was book a cool addition to the series to have a straight action/adventure without a quickly developed romance. So I was really digging it. But then at about 65% into the story, the main characters very suddenly kissed and the romance was all of sudden there. People that very much want to have a romance in their novellas will appreciate this, but I thought it was too rushed. I would have preferred to have simply continued with the adventure aspect of the story. The romance felt like an afterthought, and as a result it was just kind of there for me. I would have preferred it to have been incorporated from the start or not at all.
Overall, this is a good installment to the Skeleton Key series, but it is not my favorite of the ones I have read. It would be good for fans of dragon/witch rivalry books, and fans of fantasy novellas. This would have been a 4 star read easily if it was just focused on the plot and not tried to make a romance happen with the characters.

Like a Boss is the first book in the adult contemporary romance Like a Boss duet series by Logan Chance. I hardly ever get the opportunity to read a romance book written by male author, so I was super excited for Like a Boss. I really liked the story. I loved the back and forth bickering between the two main characters, Theo and Penny. Watching them fight was my favorite part of the book. Like a Boss is a quick read that will leave you wanting more.
Theo and Penny meet one night when she is all dressed up in a wig (and I guess contacts?) and even though neither one of them can get the other out of their heads, when they finally meet up again. This time Penny is a bartender in Logan's new bar- he has no idea who she is. I found it hard to believe that he didn't recognize her right away, and certainly after he was around her more, but he didn't. What I did like about Theo was that he loved both versions of Penny. Except this new employee version also got on his nerves big time. It was a blast to read.
I loved that Theo had no idea how to run a bar. It made the story so interesting, especially since Penny knows so much about the inner workings of a bar. I loved everything about the dynamic between the characters in Like a Boss. It was a purely fun read for me. I blew through it quickly and I was left wanting the next part of the book right now. I could have done without the whole other guy aspect. I felt like that was a bit forced, since we don't even see him until the end of the story. I know it is going to come into play in the next book, but I would have preferred Penny and Theo's drama to come from somewhere else. I hated the way the first book left off. It is like a vice tightening on my heart.
Bottom line: If you are a looking for a hot summer read, Like a Boss fits the bill. Watching Penny and Theo fight, while they were trying to resist their pull to one another was a blast. I had a great time reading Like a Boss. I can't wait to see what is going to happen next. (and it better not be something bad!)
