So I started this book full of excitement as it had all the elements I usually love (strong female lead, murder, mystery etc) but I have been left disappointed.
I didn’t like the main character, I felt she came across as spoilt and childish. The book focuses more on her that the murder element and I was bored 90% of the time (I can’t not finish a book).
I think some may enjoy this, maybe young adult or even people in their early twenties but not for a working mother in her 30’s ( I just wanted to yell at her to grow up! )

When I first saw this, I loved everything about it, the cover was bright and inviting and the story sounded hilarious.
The story surrounds Sarah, a stay at home mum who is pregnant with baby number three and fed up wit her house and lack of career and Drew, her hardworking and slightly naive husband. They are struggling for money so Drew, inspired by a new article, decides to write and erotic novel to generate some extra cash.
It was an original story line that I had not come across before and the characters were likeable and well developed.
I did enjoy the book and would recommend for a light holiday read but, for me, it didn’t live up to what I felt it could have been given the premise. Also, despite the title and what the couple are writing about there is ZERO steam in this book.

This is not at all what I was expecting, for some reason I was expecting a comical look at how an old cookbook could be wildly out of date and yet still relevant and while it did show that, it was not funny. It was dark and twisty and for that I think I like it even more that I would have done had it been what I was expecting.
The narrative switches between Nellie, a 1950s housewife who married a man she didn’t really know and Alice, a modern-day housewife, although this is down to being fired from her job and not through choice.
I enjoyed that the Nellie’s chapters started with a recipe and Alice’s started with quotes from old books, it made it easy to flip from one time and mind set to another. Using the quotes at the start of Alice’s chapters was very clever as you read them and think, ‘wow we have come so far’ and ‘ I can’t believe people used to think like that’ then you read her chapter and realise that actually we haven’t come that far at all!
There were a few twists in the book which I found very predictable but in no way did that ruin this for me as I was intrigued to find out how each of the twists played out.
Thank you to Legend Press and the Author for giving me a copy of this to review.

As soon as I read the blurb for this, I knew I wanted to be part of the blog tour. I love stories about bringing people together and this did not disappoint.
The story is about Charlie who has just started a job as a supermarket delivery driver. Its clear from the start that he is troubled by his past. It also focuses on three of the people he delivers to and their lives and as we go through the story, it is clear that Charlie is connected to one of the people he delivers to in some way.
Stuart cleverly writes history into each of the characters that leaves potential for any of them to be the person Charlie is connected to but without fulling revealing who.
I fell into this book with ease and connected/liked the characters straight away and loved seeing them each come together and create a better, brighter future. This was an original idea that I have not come across before and thoroughly enjoyed.
I will definitely be looking out for more books by this Author. Thank to Tracey Fenton @ Compulsive Reads &Trapeze for my copy of this book in exchange for a review.

This book is a beautiful web of stories within stories, a network of people connected a visit to a 24 hour cafe. It is so simple but yet so complex all at the same time.
The main story is of the the two waitress who work in the 24 hours, their dreams, their past and their friendship but then there is also mini stories of the customers who come into the cafe, glimpses at people during their best and worst times and how just having a quiet place to go can make all the difference.
Page just has an absolute way with works and I can now see why so many people rave about her work. I will definitely be moving The Lido to the top of my TBR pile.
This book made me cry with the truths captured in its pages, the heart break written so beautifully. This book really will stay with me for a long, long time. I will be sending a copy to all those friends I have lost touch with who have left a hole in my soul and I urge you to read it.

A fast paced and well written story that I would definitely recommend.
This is the second book in the series but can definitely be read as a stand alone novel as the connections that had been developed between the characters in the first were clearly demonstrated and nothing that happened in this one seemed dependant on anything that happened in the other book.
I don't know why but I wasn't expecting to enjoy this book (I cant apologise enough to the author) but I was totally surprised by it. I flew through it and thoroughly enjoyed it, so much so that I have bought the first book! (Only £2 on amazon!!)
Upon finishing the book I read the authors notes and was amazed to find that the author had been an author in residence inside prisons, it was a fascinating piece of information that explained how he was able to write the mind set of the prisoners so well.
