I really really wanted to love this book as the author read lots of the same stories that I treasured during childhood but it just reads like a load of pretentious twoddle!
I was expecting much more of a dramatic twist at the end and so felt let down by this book. Overall story was ok but didn’t have desperate to turn the page!
It really took me a while to get into this book and I very nearly didn’t bother continuing with it, then all of a sudden I couldn’t put it down!!! This is the reason it has a four and not a five star rating.
It was a typical romance of geeky girl loves gorgeous rich guy but had a couple of added twists (all fairly predictable but still enjoyable)
I really loved the characters by the end and I’m going to look at getting further books in the series.

Rich Girl loose money, has to work for a living a then gets caught up in a crime.
This was a nice easy read but I felt that was all it was, I wouldn't rave about it to my friends and I wouldn't go out of my way to get the next instalment, which there will inevitably be as the end was so open. I felt like the switching between characters was a bit clunky and was easy to get lost on who she was talking to. Also the characteristic of spouting off random facts really didn't flow, almost like it was an after thought that the author went back and added in just to try and give her an edge.

The story of a young girl who grows up in a world where doors can take you to other worlds intertwined with the story of how two young lovers met and were separated.
Unlike anything I have read before, I really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend for fantasy lovers.

A lovely story of two people who happen to meet at the right time, each for their own reasons. Nice easy flips between the two time periods and narrates the atrociousness of the war whilst still being a heartwarming story.
