Cosy and Christmassy
But maybe even a bit too cosy even for me!
Didn't really get to know the main character enough to care if she found love because there were so many other characters in her friends, also didn't really like either love interest. But I love a Christmas Market and the recipes at the end are a lovely touch. Light, Christmassy reading but don't expect any surprises!

Rich and exuberant
Stunning - characters to root for and a journey through past and present exposing a web of betrayals. Complex ideas that are hard to grasp - as with the grand jeu itself!

Short story at end trumps novel!
A nice story. Not many surprises in store and a struggle to root for some of the characters at times but a lovely narrative structure, told through the eyes of different people at different times. Also, penguins.

Christmassy and Delightful
Exactly the sort of romance you need to warm your cold toes on a winter night. Christmas spirit and an enchanting narrative voice with likeable main characters. The seasonal predictability of the story doesn't detract from the fuzzy feeling it'll give you - worth a read!
