Amazing conclusion to am amazing series.

One star taken off for pacing. Because this was a wild ride that probably could have been split into two books.

If I had a dime for every time someone said the word Embers in the book, I would have... I don't know because I don't have a digital copy to search, but I would have TOO MANY.

And that stupid convoluted prophecy full of all of the book titles has come back to haunt me...

So, this one had a better editor this time at least. No blatant errors and the pacing was actually tolerable. There was also less discovery/world building through dialogue. Still way too much, but less than the first. Also, like the whole Veses character is not needed.

Overall, I feel like this should have been a duology and not a trilogy (or more???). JLA, you are an experienced writer, so please invest in a better editor and LISTEN TO THEIR ADVICE. A lot of the times, less is more. And in this series, more is more. At currently 6 books with two more to be published (one that's supposedly a different POV retelling of the first book), all of which are over 600 pages each, I think you've had plenty of time to develop character. Now please, FINISH THE GODS DAMNED STORY. I just need to know how it ends. For the love of all that is holy.

JLA need to fire her editor: a TED talk.

The grammatical and punctuation errors in this published special edition copy are unforgivable. Hanging quotation marks. Missing periods. Double negatives in sentences. Modern language in a period piece.

Also, I read this book after war of two queens, and I really think to understand half of what happens in From Blood and Ash, you need to have read this. From Blood and Ash as a series is so confusing and there's so many holes in the lore that are not explained. This book did a much better job of explaining the lore, albeit it all happened through question and answer dialogue, which was a bit annoying.

I'm hanging on by a thread to continue slugging through this series. But my internal need for a satisfying conclusion keeps me trudging through.

And on to the next. And the two more that I've preordered.... Uhg.

So I'm getting a little frustrated with the convoluted reveal of the lore of the world. Also, I feel like they mention a character once, they disappear or become irrelevant and then 100 pages later they pop up again and I'm like, wait who is that? And also that no one is all knowing/knows the truth of what is actually going on. Just the pov guessing? Which is like super frustrating. And like, can poppy get blindsided by Isbeth just one more time? Seriously, like the blindside trope has been beaten to death. And can someone please explain the poem?!?! Uhg.

Um so tiktok said "nothing happened" in this book, and I'm wondering if we read the same book because so much happened!

My only critique is that it was a bit anticlimactic when Poppy and Casteel became Queen and King. I found it kind of underwhelming. And also, I feel like some of the lore was a bit muddled in confusing half truths and lies. Otherwise, great book! On to the next!

Um, just wow. I still have a lot of questions, but I'm loving the slow revelation of the lore of this world.

At first it was spooky, then it was scary. But then it was spooky again but in a weird way.

I have so many questions. And I want the answers!

10/10 amazing. I have no words . Expect that I will be wondering how I can connect and name all the worlds Aelin fell through. We've blatantly got Prythian and Crescent City. But what about the other ones?!?!
