This was a one day read for me! Found myself incredibly hooked throughout.
This was my first ever read by Colleen Hoover having heard good things but not read too much into her writing style I found myself shocked at the detail of the more ‘intimate scenes’.
The only reason I couldn’t give this 5 stars is whilst I really enjoyed the plot twists throughout the book which always kept me guessing, the tension scenes didn’t feel as detailed as the raunchy sexual scenes which was a bit of a shame.
Loved the plot and would read again!

I was looking forward to a cosy autumnal read to break from some of the more intense reads I’ve had recently.
Sadly I just didn’t enjoy this book - the main character Amelia, I really didn’t care for. I found her to be quite selfish and naive making choices in ways that just didn’t make sense.
The plot lines in the book felt semi-cooked and then a rushed resolved at the end.
Even the core plot line of the renovation, whilst detailed didn’t really carry any real intrigue in things going wrong? Of the few challenges faced, they hardly caused a hiccup which just meant it very lack-luster.
The only saving grace for me was actually enjoyed the story line for some of the sub-characters (E.g Eleanor & Mirabel)
The plot line about the mysterious child Sarah was so lack lustre and didn’t really have any presence throughout the story - just small titbits which felt pretty forgetful to be honest. Only at the end did it feel like anything worth reading.
Amelia not wanting a child was never really explained as to why she felt that way so rushing to this change of heart at the end just feels out of character and kinda BS!
Also some of the choices just felt remarkably unrealistic - quitting your job before finalising a mortgage? Buying a house on a solo salary and then not securing any proper work in the interim? Spending beyond a budget without speaking to a long term partner? Randomly telling a friend that she might fancy another guy despite never properly acknowledging the situation? Just made the main character come across as self-absorbed, stupid and just unlikeable.

This book was a harrowing depiction of post-natal depression and was not what I had initially expected. There are are multiple POVs which at times felt a little disjointed but overall focuses on the core 3 characters.
It is far from a light read in terms of context and enjoyed how the tense a lot of the scenes/chapters felt.
The book takes a handful of twists and turns which I didn’t predict which was a nice surprise although the end resolve felt a little flat.

Moderate: Child death, Mental illness
Really disappointed and ended up not being able to finish the book. The idea seemed promising but this felt very much a style over substance for the story. It plays with abstract idea of a mathematical cross philosophical cross musical game but feels too loose to ground yourself anywhere in the book. I can’t in good conscious recommend this book to anyone.
It may be that the book picks up and gains legs later in the story but if it takes over the third of the book to do so it’s probably not for me. Just a shame as I was really hoping for more.

This is a beautiful and atmospheric story following the tale of two magicians in a night circus, competing in a non-conflict battle of skill.
This is one of my all time favourite reads that has become a comfort book for me having now re-read on multiple occasions and finding myself whisked away to the night circus.
I love the multiple POVs, the mystique which flows through the book and the entwined romance and challenge throughout. It is beautifully written and has a playful writing style with 1st person snippets to really immerse yourself into the story.
Setting the bar for all magic orientated books I look to read in future and my go-to on book recommendations.

A charming French novel following a man working in a pulp factory. A quirky little story with playful themes of snip it’s of stories and plays. For a shorter story it certainly plays out the couple intertwined story lines well.

I am a fan of Adam’s other works and never fails to make me chuckle. This books provides a playful yet insightful view of Christmases working in the NHS. Perfect little Christmas read - if only there was more!

This book is a lovely memoir and captures the challenges of transitions from doctor to patient both physically and mentally. A lovely depiction of his life and thought-provoking.

I enjoyed the structure of this book with the multiple POVs and watching their lives intwine. That being said there still felt like some of the story lines didn’t have enough meat of the bones to carry any major significance. The characters themselves I really enjoyed, as well as the writing style though overall I feel the plot was a bit lack lustre.

A wonderful medical memoir with quotes which almost felt poetic! A beautiful and compassionate view of working in medicine.
