This book was the perfect creepy read for the Halloween season, but I was confused at parts and I hope there is is a sequel!
I don't read a whole lot of classics, but this one had been sitting on my shelf for a while, so I thought I'd give it a try. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. The writing was beautiful and the story was horrifying. It did lag a little towards the middle though.
This books format was very fun to read and the story itself was quite eerie. A great read for the Halloween season. It keeps you reading into the night, but it did leave me a wee bit confused. It had a pretty creepy ending though.
Thanks to the author for the giveaway! I highly enjoyed this book! It was absolutely perfect for the Halloween season. If you like slasher horror movies I think you will like this book. I loved that the killer was not someone super obvious. My only gripe would be that I wish the reveal of who the killer was would have been at the very end in the corn maze scene.
This book was spooky paranormal romance wonderfulness. I highly enjoyed this book and the very unique mythology. It was super fun and perfect for the Halloween season!
This book was a wild ride, but also a confusing one. Overall I enjoyed it.
As with their first novel, I was lucky enough to receive an advance copy of this one for review. So, this book (much like The Wife Between Us) was one I could not put down. This was maliciously twisty and kept you on the edge of your seat in anticipation of how the story would play out. This one was a lot of fun, but it didn't have a shocking wtf twist like their first novel, so that made me take a star off my rating. But, overall I enjoyed my time reading this book. If you are in the mood for a delicious psychological thriller then this book is for you!
Merrie Destefano is easily one of my new favorite authors. Everything I've read by her I have loved and this collection was no exception. This story was everything a fae story should be and it reminded me of Edgar Allen Poe and Holly Black with a little Sarah J. Maas thrown in for good measure. If you are looking for a short, yet wholly satisfyingly spooky read then look no further than this creepy collection! As with Merries' other novels I was absorbed completely and the writing was so beautifully poetic. I highly recommend this fairy tale(see what I did there? 😉) filled with tragic romance, revenge, tricks, and treachery.
Merrie's books always grab me from page one and Valiant was no different. I was consumed by this story up until I read the final word. This novel had all the things I love: sci-fi, aliens, adventure, post-apocalyptic mayhem, strong sibling relationships, time travel, non-stop action, female characters who kick butt, and even a swoon worthy romance! I was in tears by the end and now I need book 2 asap! This story is unlike anything I have ever read! It combines several genre's seamlessly and it effortlessly brings a new and exciting world to life! Now, I'll just be over in the corner drowning in a puddle of my emotions...please send cake and puppies!
