Monika Kim is my new favorite author. I need her to write a new book immediately. This book is exactly my cup of tea. It starts out as a family drama, becomes a psychological thriller, and then ends up a true horror novel. To top it off, the character development is fantastic and the pacing is quick and makes things easy to read. I didn't want it to end. I devoured it in just a single sitting.

This is the story of a young woman who goes through some traumatic events and her eventually spiral into insanity. It makes you question yourself and your own sanity in a way that I compare to King.

This is one of the best things I have read all year and I will scream it from the rooftops if you'll let me.

This story is marketed as a reimaging of Washington Irving's "The Legend of Sleep Hollow", taking place in the famous town. It follows Katrina, the daughter of a prominent family, as she is forced to embrace her powers and embark on a journey of self discovery as she battles the Horseman and death itself to save the town she grew up in.

The plot was cute and the writing was gothic and beautiful, painting the dark misty setting for us and providing a moody ambiance that was enjoyable. However, it only got three stars from because while it has promise, the story progressed too slowly and too little. The monster romance was a lot of burn for no payoff. I also think it could have been told in fewer words, as the novel is unnecessarily lengthy.

I would recommend this book to those who are looking to dip their toe into a YA monster romance for spooky season.

The book jacket said it best. This is like a hallmark rom-com full of mythical creatures fueled by cinnamon rolls and magic. It was warm and sweet and light and happy. I would love to live in this beautiful world that Durst created permanently.

I came so close to DNFing this book. Wow was part 1 boring AF. I just kept waiting and waiting for something to happen. Zero character development, I guess they just assumed that you are familiar with Huck Finn.

This was like Dorothy jumping into the looking glass and winding up in a carnival at never never land. It was the best kind of acid trip.

It lost a star for me in the execution. The overly sappy descriptions and needlessly wordy and made up experiences.

This was such a delight. The pacing was excellent, the story was captivating, the story was somehow both realistic and relatable. The twists were twisty and the ride was an adventure. Well done.
