I struggled with this one more than the first two. As there was such a dramatic shift in location and characters, it felt more like a first book again instead of a sequel. There were portions where I felt like nothing was happening and it was a chore to pickup the book and read it. I am incredibly glad that I stuck with it, though. The character development and blossoming relationship between Celeana and Rowan was top notch. I was invested, emotional, and did not see the ending coming. I am hooked and can't wait to read the next one.
What a wonderful book. A futuristic take on Pinocchio that is part science fiction, part fantasy, part thriller, and part horror. The story follows Vic and his robotic friends. It is touching and smart and at times incredibly funny. What makes this a five star read for me is that at its core, it is a philosophical narrative on what it means to exist and to be happy. It is a tale of forgiveness, flaws and weakness, duty, loyalty, and above all else it is about love.
