I settled on four stars because despite being slow and at times a bit boring, the story was beautiful. Subtly beautiful. I enjoyed the theme of trying to determine what a monster really was and what it meant to be human. Good vs evil when what you’re expecting to be evil turns out to be your greatest protector.

A dark romance thriller! Be still my black academic heart. The vibes were vibing. Dark, moody, old world academia. The story was part sci-fi part telenovela. The FMC was a little annoying at times but you can’t help but root for the underdog. The spicy was spicy and it held my attention all the way through.

It’s only getting four stars because it didn’t need to be so damn long. 650 pages? We could’ve gotten there in half that.

I should have started with TOG and not ACOTAR. This book was soooo much better! Where Feyre was annoying and whiney and always looking for praise, Celeana is the opposite. She’s a bad ass who doesn’t care what people think of her, ripping throats and hearts out with zero apologies.
