The way the conflict in this is fantastic. We're shown each side's reasons for fighting, and Spider-Man even second guesses which side he chooses. There are a lot of great panels here, too, scaling full pages and really showing the scope of the Civil War.

This is my third time reading this, and knowing how they ended volume 9 almost makes this one more emotional. There's a new issue coming out this week (yay!), so I'm re-reading to put it fresh in my mind for that new issue. Which I will definitely be reading as soon as I can!

Not only is the writing great in this, but the art is just beautiful as well. There's a reason this is so popular, even with people who don't necessarily read comics. It's easily accessible and the characters are so easy to fall in love with instantly. If it's one you haven't read, I highly recommend it!

Officially re-reading this because I felt like it was time! I just marvel at the world building in this series, and the complex characters put in dire situations. Everything about it just works so well together.

Overall, this is a good end to the series. However, the book itself felt a bit lopsided to me. The ended felt rushed. So much happened in that last quarter of the book! For me, there was still too much flip flopping between America and Maxon, though I guess that was to be expected. The drama!

An entertaining series, and one I'm happy to have finally crossed off the old TBR. The audiobooks are actually pretty entertaining, as the main narrator fits America's voice perfectly. I can see why so many people love this series!

I think I pick up something new every time I read this book. Ness has created this intricate world, one that's hard to forget. This book also doesn't let up; from the beginning, Todd and Viola are running for their lives, without knowing the full story.

The way that Ness slowly introduces us to the real story is also brilliant. This will forever be one of my favorites!

In honor of the new book coming out, re-reading these original books just to make everything fresh in my mind. Because Suzanne Collins is the type of person who makes small connections that will probably blow your mind. I just re-read Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and I'm still amazed at the connections between that and the original series, even all those years apart.

All this to say if you ever want to chat about how gender relates to power in the Hunger Games, hit me up because that's what I wrote my thesis about.

I remember when this book first came out and the book club I was in at the time was all excited about it. It helped start the YA dystopia craze (which I still love) and is partially responsible for me going into children's literature in school.

Katniss is so snarky in this book, which makes the commentary about the Games even better. And Peeta! He will forever be my favorite. He loves Katniss so unconditionally and the parallels between this and the later books are brilliant.

The way Collins moves the story forward is masterful. There's so much that happens in the first half of the book that I forgot about. Also, I wish they would have included Peeta losing his leg in the movies. It plays a role in this book. Also I can't turn off my analytical mind when reading this books. The lit major in me is dying to write an essay!

I know a lot of people don't like this last book in the trilogy, but I think it wrapped up the story nicely. Okay, maybe I could have done without that two page epilogue that doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the book. Ending where the story ended would have actually worked fine. But alas! The epilogue still exists.

Mockingjay brings together a lot of great elements from the first two books, and yet is almost more heartbreaking. After seeing the stuff about Snow in this book, I'm actually really interested in reading the prequel to see how it plays out. Still one of my favorite series!

I enjoyed the connections this makes between different Civil War story lines and the juxtaposition between other wars and this one was interesting. I didn't care for all the story lines, though. There are enough cliff hangers to want to read the second volume, though!

We get some great background information in this one, showing how Alana and Marko met. It not only helps in building the characters, but it also helps with building the world as well. Meeting Marko's parents also helps us to gain a little bit more background into his character.

I feel like Vaughan knows how to pace out comics really well, and Staples just creates beautiful art. The two of them together is just magic!

The characters! They are part of what make this series so captivating. Personally, I love that Alana and Marko fall in love over a book. The power is stories even relates these two races that are supposed to hate each other. And the art is magnificent. Everything about this series is just amazing.

I like the way that this brings together both the Mortal Instruments and the Infernal Devices, which is probably why it gets the highest rating for a Mortal Instruments book. There are also a lot of characters, so I don't have to hear from Clary as much. It wraps up this story nicely, even if it is a little on the long side.

Also Sophie Turner narrates this audiobook, so basically Sansa Stark just read me a story. Worth it!
