As someone currently in a situation similar to Lincoln (outside of the email thing), I found this book so relatable. This is the kind of New Adult book that we need, I think. Lincoln is just trying to find his place in life, what's next. Which is exactly where I am. This was the perfect time to read this book, and I'm so happy I did.

I have finally finished the Game of Thrones audiobooks, just in time for the new season to start! The narrator for these, Roy Dotrice, is amazing. All of the voices and everything that he does just really brings these books alive. Though the show has surpassed the books, I enjoy all the little details that are included here that aren't included in the show. Now, onto the next audiobook adventure!

Jenn Bennett is an author that I've seen around Instagram and Twitter, but I've never gotten around to picking up her books. I think I'm glad that this one was my first one. There was so much to love here. You've got mystery, romance, lots of pop culture references, and even discussion of some serious topics. Daniel struggles with depression, while Birdie struggles with anxiety and undiagnosed narcolepsy. Bennett deals with these topics with grace, and they make the book more than it seems at the surface.

Honestly, I can't think of anything that I didn't like about this book except that it might give you unrealistic expectations for romance. Seattle was the perfect setting for this story, and once I started it, I absolutely didn't want to put it down. Actually, I didn't want it to end. What a perfect book to start April with.Serious Moonlight is a character-driven romance that you'll definitely want to add to your spring TBR.

This books offers a glimpse into a culture that I knew next to nothing about, and I'm actually glad I read it for Barnes and Noble's book club. It deals with a lot of difficult topics, but I think it's an important read.

I was sent a copy of this book by the author in exchange for my honest review. This was the perfect quick read to fit between my book club books. Fast paced and action packed, we can see all the skill from the short stories in Time Crawlers expand in this novel length story.

What I really enjoyed about this book was the vast world that Sayal has created. Though the book is short (my biggest complaint), you’ll still be able to become immersed in this world of time travel that Sayal has created. You’ll fall into Tej’s world, holding your breath as he fights to save humanity.

Packed with rounded characters and plenty of twists and turns, this book works well as an introduction to what looks like a new series. If you’re looking for something different and out of the box, definitely check out Varun Sayal!

So I basically read this book in two parts. I listened to the audiobook to a get a sense of the story at the core and then went back and read the notes in the margins. I actually liked the margin story better than the main story, as I liked Jen and Eric as characters. This book overall is a lot like House of Leaves, but not quite as creepy. More existential. It's sure to make an interesting book club discussion!

What a fun middle grade mystery! Ghosts are one aspect of paranormal that aren’t touched on a whole lot in books (that I know of). At work, parents often come looking for this kind of book for their young teens. I can’t wait to recommend this one!

This book has all the markings of a great mystery novel. As we read, the mystery unfolds slowly, pulling the reader in and making the book difficult to put down. I wanted to know what kind of adventure Pekin and her friends, Amber and Scout, were going to get into next. Which means it’s great to know that this is just the first book in the series.

My main criticism of the book is that it was difficult to get a feel for the actual age of the characters. It says somewhere that they were in their upper teens (I think?). However, they felt younger than that to me. I would have liked a more concrete timeline in regards to where they fit in terms of school.

Other than that, McCord’s book is a successful mystery that would make an excellent summer read!

So far, April has been a month for excellent books. Let's keep that momentum going; this one was an examination of grief and how one girl works through it. More in a review to come tomorrow!

We received an ARC of this book at work, and first of all, let’s just admire this cover. It’s absolutely beautiful. So far, I’ve thought that of both of Kathleen Glasgow’s books. This is one of the first books I’m checking off my Spring TBR. Yay! Dark and emotional, just what we’ve started to associate with a Kathleen Glasgow book.

Throughout the book, we feel Tiger’s raw emotion at losing her mother, so unexpectedly. You can tell that Glasgow did her research about the foster system and how teens can be bounced around from place to place after losing a parent. As reader’s, we feel Tiger’s pain at losing her mother. We feel her pain at feeling like she’s alone in the world. Everything about her story feels real.

The book is also constructed well. Generally, I never really felt like the story or its characters were lacking in any sense. The plot doesn’t function as you might predict, which makes the book feel all the more realistic.

Overall, dark, emotional, and entirely realistic.

The narrative here is so artfully woven and engaging, I absolutely need the second book now! Thankfully I downloaded them all on audible.

This was my second read of this book, and though I knew what was coming, the story still stands up the second time through. Zentner's books are filled with real emotion, examining the way that grief can consume someone's life. For me, this book not only fills you with the grief and sadness that the characters feel, but it also emphasizes the idea of hope. There's always hope, if you know where to look.
