A quirky, and fun ghostly rom-com! Ghosts + romance -

3.5 ⭐️

I love home renovation shows so I was instantly intrigued by the synopsis for this book. Think Flip or Flop, with lots of off screen drama. While I enjoyed the premise, it almost felt like the romance played second to it, leaving me wanting more. The book is fun and easily bingeable but I found myself missing the angst, witty banter and humor I enjoyed in some of their previous books.

I liked Carey and James and their chemistry. I enjoyed their relationship and how James helped her see the truth of her situation, as an outsider with fresh eyes. The dual narration in the audio was great and I couldn't help but enjoy the train wreck of watching the Tripps' marriage implode - #sorrynotsorry

4.5 stars! This audiobook told in verse with snippets of songs was amazing! Highly recommend listening to this one.

Storyline is a bit similar to Grown which I loved and deals with a relevant topic in music. Some hard to read moments that pierce your heart making this anything but an easy read but it’s very well done.

3.5 ⭐️ A brutal murder, a girl with multiple personality disorder, a mental hospital and enough secrets and unreliable narrators to have you changing your mind with each new chapter⁣

This was a slow burn, intense whodunnit that will have you questioning everything and everyone. ⁣

It looks like a clear cut case of murder when Penny is found covered in blood, holding a knife over a murdered woman’s body. But her mother thinks she’s innocent and wants to save her daughter from going to prison. Convinced it had to be one of her multiple personalities, and not really Penny at fault, she enlists the help of a psychiatrist to prove Penny’s DID is to blame. ⁣

Told in alternating voices, we get pieces of the puzzle falling into place but before all is revealed we get taken on a roller coaster ride of ups and downs - did she or didn’t she, who’s lying, who’s keeping secrets? ⁣

The book has a fabulous premise and I was immediately drawn in but things got a bit repetitive and I found my attention waning with time spent on side stories that really weren’t needed and didn’t add to the overall plot. I also felt like the twist/ending was a bit too over the top and the epilogue was unnecessary. I usually love a good epilogue, always wanting more, but this one didn’t work for me as it focused on a side story that seemed off topic to the main events and I wasn’t as invested in it to care. ⁣

This was just so darn cute. Loved the retelling spin on one of my favorite movies, Grease. It all begins with a magical summer romance between Ollie and Will. They didn't expect to see each other again at school but when they do Ollie realizes that the Will he knew isn't the Will he sees now. Or is he still there, hidden by the persona he puts on for his friends and family?

Honestly, if this had some musical numbers it would have been 5 stars from me. I loved Ollie so much and his family gave me so many feels. If you want a feel good, fun read - definitely pick this up! It was fun yet emotional, had wonderful diverse characters and just left my heart feeling happy.

I wanted to love this after enjoying Wilder Girls but sadly, I wasn't as impressed. It was weird which I didn't mind but it never pulled me in the way Wilder Girls did. There were lots of secrets and family drama but it felt repetitive and I ultimately found myself just wanting to know what the hell was going on so I could be done with it.

I felt for Margot, her emotions and the issues with her mother felt raw and real. The mystery was interesting and definitely different and the magical realism aspect was intriguing but I couldn't help the feeling that I wanted just a bit more of it.

I enjoyed this, just didn't love it. The last third was really good but the middle definitely dragged for me. Overall, if you enjoy a creepy, suspenseful, slow-burn read that skirts the line of horror I'd definitely say to give this one a try.

This book is like a warm hug - I loved it! A must read for socially awkward romantics everywhere!

I have to say that I fell hard for Wesley. How much more awkward, innocent and romantic can you be and still manage to be sexy and irresistible? Hogle does such an amazing job with this story and the romance between Maybell and Wesley. I was rooting for them from the moment they met. Maybe it's bc I saw so much of myself in Maybell and I wanted her to have her HEA. I have always been an avid daydreamer so I was so taken in by her daydreams and the solace they provided her. I totally get it Maybell - my augmented universe is way cooler than the real world too.

So when reality blurs the lines between fantasy with Wesley - how can you not root for that? They were just so darn cute! Seeing each other for who they were, accepting all the imperfections and quirks and being there for each other in exactly they way they need it.

I finished this book with a smile on my face and a flutter in my heart. I now need to go back and read Hogle's previous book, You Deserve Each Other.

Such a wild ride! Loved it!!!
