DNF: I loved learning about Inuit history and culture, but the writing did not work for me and the later sections needed some editing (lost focus, too much detail). I don't seem to be alone in this. I think that Watt-Cloutier seems to be an amazing person doing important work, but I also think this book was unsuccessful. I can't wait to read more Inuk authors!

This book HAD me, until the dubious trans/not trans issues in the last few chapters...whatever that was. I think I understand what Oyeyemi was *trying* to do, but it read as problematic to me, and made me deeply uncomfortable (not in a good, challenging-perceptions kind of way). Now I have no idea how to rate this book.
