Don’t take my 3 star review as a sign to skip this book.

I really did love it, I devoured it as a guilty pleasure, well maybe not that guilty 😅😂 and it kept me absolutely hooked from start to finish. Honestly I thought it was going to be a bit of a faster burn, but it felt like a slow burn in the first 200 pages for me (which I love).

Yesssssss it’s spicy for the smut lovers, yes there’s an age gap, BUT i will say Douglas does a really good job of playing the story out and the morality in question is pondered many many times. It didn’t feel weird is what I’m trying to say. This was a hot one for my standards. 50/50 smut plot ratio.

All I can say is: Daddy Pike.
If you like contemporary forbidden romance, this one felt cozy.

3.25🌟/5 stars.
I was looking for a stand-alone between series and this definitely hit the spot.
Is this a bit of a guilty pleasure? Yes.
Is the writing complex? No, but it does keep you completely engaged and wanting more.
Will I read all the rest in the series? Yes, Absolutely.
I would say this was 35% plot, 65% smut. They were movin’ pretty quickly for me but I was rockin’ with it.

I really do love a fairytale retelling, and I devoured this in two sittings. Very fast paced, very dark romance, and very smutty. If you like that type of tea, dive in ☕️

4.5/5 Stars for me 🌟

Only docking a half point because it took me about 150 pages to truly get into, but that’s also to be expected for book one’s world building in a fantasy series. All around this book was such a good read, more fantasy than romance- which ya girl kinda likes so if you want a touch of romance and absolute female badassery, this is a good one for you.

Carissa’s writing style flows like butter to me, there’s something about authors who can make their characters so loveable, she paint pictures with words to bring this realm to life. If she writes it, I’m reading it 🫡

Looking forward to diving straight into the next one 😇

The entire premise of this book really drew me in. Queer enemies to lovers, dragons, magic system, and a prophecy to fulfill.

It took me a bit to get hooked and settled in, the world building was thorough and a bit wordy in the beginning. The magic system was really unique, I found myself a little confused at points as well as a personal disconnect with the writing style and perspectives though. One thing I love is when a fantasy book can completely immerse me into the new realm, and i wanted it to click so bad, but I struggled to be fully immersed with certain confusions throughout the story.

Love the gender fluid representation, and queer enemies to lovers with the “i don’t want you!” tropes. But this book fell a bit short for me.
3.5/5 stars because even though the beginning didn’t have me, the way it wraps up & the plot twist gave it a push and left me needing to know what’s next.

This book was sent to me by Netgalley as an ARC in exchange for an honest review, thank you!

In the thick of it to say the least. Loved the pace of this book. Also really loved following Manon’s perspective, I think she’s growing into a new favorite of mine. Saw a lot of character development shine through in this one and felt like action from start to finish. All the feels, directly to the next book, this was my favorite in the series yet.

Liz Wiseman

DID NOT FINISH: 18%

I found this book repetitive and the writing to be moderately condescending. Wasn’t for me.

The Clockmaker's Daughter

Kate Morton

DID NOT FINISH: 45%

DNF’d & 44%, I really hate not finishing a book, I feel guilty. While Morton’s writing style might be right up other’s alley, for me it droned on in a way that wasn’t keeping me engaged.

Maybe I’ll come back to this one at a point but unfortunately for now, it’s being shelved as DNF :/

I was curious, just felt myself putting off finishing this book and reaching for another.

A Multitude of Dreams was a good read for me in the terms of: diverse representation, it was refreshing to read a fantasy with Jewish representation, strong female lead character, and overall some great gothic imagery.

I personally found the first half a little slow to get through, the premise of the story kept me curious to see the end, and with a modern fantasy plague retelling… I found this standalone an overall 3/5 ⭐️

The storyline was lacking plot twists for me, and I found the characters to be a bit one dimensional. If I was eating this book 10 years ago as a young adult this may have been a 4 for me! But my taste is a bit subjectively different these days. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a fantasy standalone with minimal romance, anyone who loves YA fantasy fiction, or to fans of modern works similar to Edgar Allan Poe.

I received a copy of this book via NetGalley in return for an honest and willing review. Thank you so much to the publishers, Maria, and Netgalley, for the opportunity to review the advanced copy of this book.

A modern horror story. Sutherland’s writing is reminiscent to Edgar Allan Poe’s, her dark storytelling of the three Hollow sisters has both beautiful and grotesque imagery. The story flows well and keeps you wanting to know more. I would consider this a modern paranormal and horror mystery.

Worth checking out if you enjoy Poe’s work, Stephen King, or your looking for a stand-alone that’s around 300 pages that will keep you on your toes.

3.85 rounded to 4🌟 personally i love dark descriptive and almost poetic imagery, so i enjoyed it.
