I was lucky to receive an ARC of this book, and I can say… I loved it. I love reading books that involve love in non-romantic ways. I loved getting to see familial love grow and change. I’ve always been a firm believer in the idea that family doesn’t end in blood and it doesn’t even start there, and this book is truly a prime example of it. Family extended to the friendships, extended families, families of half-siblings, and even themselves. Fair warning, the ending made me tear up!!

I was provided an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Gia Stevens has a way of creating background characters that feel very surface level but the second their book comes out you discover a whole world behind it. I like this because if I’m reading a book about a character from their POV, i expect them to focus on their story. The universe Gia is creating is unique and fun, allowing each character set to shine in their own stories.
This book specifically, I felt like the characters were so interesting and their dynamic worked in a way I really didn’t expect at first.

loved this book, especially reading it during the world cup (the women’s one, obviously ((the superior one))). sometimes felt like it leaned into stereotypes TOO much and also i wish the epilogue was longer. i did love the characters, i loved the conclusion, and i loved that the author used the inequities faced by female sports teams to further the plot. it’s a very important conversation that i think needs to keep happening.
