no fault of the book or the author. i was recommended this book and i was told to try even if its not my favorite genre type. i just couldn’t get into it.
the characters were fun, i liked the dynamics, i will probably be looking up spoilers, i just don’t care enough to finish it.

this just wasn’t the book for me. it read like a gay man who had never spoken to another gay person before but watched the show queer eye once.

i felt like the writing was disconnected to teens now and it felt strange to read it

I LOVE JLB books, but going into this I was expecting to not vibe with it based on the description. I wanted to give it a shot anyways, but it’s just not my cup of tea :). The writing was good, the idea was cool, just didn’t vibe with it and i’m here to read for fun and good vibes!

Don't Let Me Go

This book feels like it was written in the 80’s, so I did some research into the author. It’s a white woman from Texas who, from what I can see, is straight and only writes MLM romances. She did very little research into the queer community, and it shows in this book. For sure NOT a good representation. I’m all for people writing characters different from themselves, but it’s important to do some kind of detailed research into those groups so you can portray them correctly. This book felt “edgy” and “deep” but in reality it feels like someone wanting an excuse to fetishized gay men.

I was recommended this book and just didn’t get as into it as I wanted to. I found myself skimming over the pages and didn’t care about the story. Also there is a lot of characters and not a lot of separation when it comes to changing POV so it was hard to follow.
