What is not to love about women kicking butt? Ismae is a girl, sired by Death, and unwanted by her father and even the old man she was supposed to marry. Enter an escape to a convent run by assasain nuns who train her in poisons, knives, and the womanly arts all to better serve her 'father,' the god of death Mortain. She is then sent on missions to kill those who are traitors to the Duchess of Brittany, who is threatened on many sides.

Based in Brittany in the 1400s, I will need to do some independent research, but this book felt historically significant and exciting as Ismae and the cast of characters worked around the intrigue of a middle ages court. I also enjoyed her transformation from a naive, turnip farmer to cold blooded assasain, to woman in love.

Questions of vengeance, morality, and mercy are also woven throughout this title

Didn't even finish. Think this may be better interpreted as a movie then in written word. Sorry ladies, I don't find your high school boy's point of view very believable.

A cute tale of a young gal from Central Wisconsin who takes on the responsibility of the family farm but also follows in her brothers' footsteps and tries out for the High School football team. I enjoyed the voice of DJ; felt authentic and age appropriate. Fun, breezy read.
