Not feeling this at all despite epic bonker levels of shenanigans from what i saw discussed. Might try again some other time, but then again probably not.
As I did not read in full, I can only content note that there is orientalism & cultural tourism

audiobook narrators - amazing, super great fun time
i also legit forgot how they solved the problem of Nick at the end, and overall had a blast re-reading via audio.
"But we were also known as the Shimmy Shimmy Bangs. We were the Lady Robin Hoods of the American Southwest. And we were going to do one last jewel heist. The biggest of them all. The North Star."
Nick Norton celebrated his 40th birthday in jail, but now he's out and determined to keep on the straight and narrow. No more lock-picking, no more jewel heists, no more gambling.
But, this motorcycle riding cinnamon roll is in for the greatest heist of his life when he is unwittingly roped into helping a beautiful and hilarious woman steal a diamond engagement ring. A theft she uses to help pay for and reclaim her elderly neighbor's pawned items. A gorgeous, modern day Robin Hood.
Stella and her two besties are preparing for their final heist, their last hurrah, and is not in the market for another partner, romantic or otherwise. But, Nick is completely and irresistibly sweet, not to mention utterly delicious. When her two friends are hurt in a car accident, Stella figures out she may actually need Nick's help after all.
What follows is a slightly insta-love but so good romance that you don't care heist story that just is the perfect combination of steam, heart, and fun. Similar to Tamara Morgan's Stealing Mr. Right but with SEX. Yes.
I was not expecting this book and I loved it so much.
Highly recommend. Also, a cute dachshund and great female friendships that I hope are explored in more books.

DNF'ed at scene where hero crashes heroine's boudoir photoshoot that she's modeling in to help a fellow photographer. he not only stops he show, he deletes all the photos and threatens the photographer before dragging her out in her undies. they aren't even dating, he's just "protecting her" for her brother.

Reading for Our Lives: How Parents Can Lay the Foundation for Literacy Success, from Birth to Six
great resource for parents, educators, and library staff on the important of early literacy, going beyond the "just read out loud to them."
there are actionable steps and ideas, i liked the thought of the journaling prompts for parents too. As a parent, I feel overwhelmed with advice a whole lot, and this one did make me feel a bit like oh heck, i've missed my window (my oldest is six), but reflecting on each action step I have done those throughout parenting.
I take a more relaxed approach personally, but otherwise still recommend. Love that it is written by a local Milwaukee educator and researcher, and a Marquette almnus.

Three romance novellas set at a wedding taking place at a winery in Aotearoa. You can read each one individually or all together for lovely little easter eggs. My favorites were Courtney Clark Michaels & Esme Brett's stories. They made me giggle, and were just so much fun.
All authors to watch, and I will be reading more from each!
I especially loved Brett's story about the divorcee boudoir photographer who is fighting to keep her business afloat after her leech of an ex tries to make her seem like a bumbling chaos moppet. Adding in the grumpy B&B owner who delights in refinishing furniture, setting up themed rooms, and who willingly, if begrudgingly, steps in with his sexy hands for a photo? Excellence.
PLUS HE REUPHOLSTERS A CHAISE FOR HER

The author wrote this during the year her wife was diagnosed with adult onset asthma during the 2020 wildfires in the LA area. Spare, but impactful passages and sometimes single sentences or just a word, this was a great read I'd not probably have picked up on my own. I especially enjoyed the one about the moon, and feeling the author's struggle to find her way when her home, both physical and metaphorical, wasn't where she had hoped and dreamed it would be (and stay).
an utterly lovely debut historical romance novel by an author to watch. the emotional beats were absolutely exquisite, but I do think this was overly long in plot. A minor quibble in an otherwise sexy and steamy historical romance that delivers huge emotional impact.
For me, I struggle with plots about children being threatened to be removed from their mother or parents, so that kept me from fully sinking into the romance as I always had that niggling worry in the back of my brain even though I FULLY KNEW it would all be okay (I made a reader friend spoil me). Simply not a b preferred plot. That said, watching a rake absolutely fall and turn into a full dad mode was super great and fun. Nate is the star of this show, and I do wish Cora had a bit more character development beyond worried mother of two and simp for Nate.
All said, I will definitely be back for me as the author writes them.

Nun in training Annabel is suddenly plucked from the convent by her awful family to wed the Scottish Laird her family promised their oldest daughter's hand to. Annabel is not the oldest daughter, but now that her family has disowned her oldest sister for running off with a stable boy, they figure they can swap her in to make sure they are not ruined financially for reneging on the deal.
As for Ross MacKay, he knows something is afoot with the beautiful but very innocent and very unworldly lass who is suddenly his bride, but he can also tell it would be best to remove her from her family post-haste.
Journeying to the Highlands proves both frustrating and a wee bit dangerous, as does landing at his home, as both Ross and Annabel find an enemy is trying to tear them apart.
What a flipping romp, excellently narrated by Mary Jane Wells. This is absolutely from the start just a wild rollercoaster you have to turn your brain off and listen to with your heart and loins and you'll have a great time.
There are SO many injuries in this book, and poor Annabel is breasting boobily throughout with no gowns but the one she has that is ruined constantly and i just laughed and laughed. this is what i want in a romance sometimes! just laughs and fun and lovely steamy sexy times. We love a Laird who is gentle, kind, and great at tupping!
Content notes: annabel and ross are white; annabel is english and ross is scottish. there is lots of mentions of head wounds, head thwumps, blood, and other medical emergencies minor and bigger. everyone lives, there is some side murdery stuff, and drinking. annabel is a virgin and ross does fake having sex with her for the first time to ease her mind and make sure they can leave her home (slashes his palm to rub blood on the sheet)
thank you to my pal AllieIsWriting who encouraged me to pick this up, and all the new #ClanSands members on Twitter who have now joined along!
