Antonio DeRose, business man, takes over a struggling tattoo parlor and falls for one of its best artists. Evie's hesitancy to take a promotion and self-doubt lead her to make mistakes in the business that in turn threaten their relationship.

I found this boring. The cover is completely misleading. The majority of the story is business driven and I did find much chemistry between the main characters. I don't typically enjoy boss/employee relationship stories and this book didn't change my mind.

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC.

When Sara returns home to try yet again to connect with her icy father, her surprise appearance startles him into setting his kitchen on fire. Thankfully hunky former next door neighbor AND trained fire fighter Aidan is also visiting home. Aidan is able to rescue them both from the smoke when Sara's father tries to run into the basement to save a mysterious unknown something. Sara and Aidan hooked up once as teens, but he stopped things before they went too far, crushing Sara's young heart. Now both adults, they still have sparks that won't be tamped out, despite Sara's father problems and Aidan's work issues.

Really heavy on plot and development of the various "mysteries," including the tragic death of Aidan's best friend and partner. Not terrible, just not my favorite. I got this for free from an Amazon deal.

My five-year old is starting to like reading chapter books for bedtime stories! Woo! This was a new mid-grade selection at my library.

A sweet story about a young boy who finds out the veterinarian next door is no ordinary vet and the woods he lives in are no ordinary woods.

There is a little action but most of the story is about the attempts to take care of a wounded, pregnant unicorn, how to deal with familial loss, and the concept "do no harm."

I didn't quiet expect the level of violence and sadness. A character is shot accidentally by hunters, the main character's grandmother dies, and there is a grave fear the unicorn who is pregnant with twins will lose one, or both, of her babies. There is some sassy language (lots of "stupid") and the boy's tentative friendship with the girl next door was sort of lame and old-fashioned.

In all, a pretty sophisticated emotional story that may not be appropriate for a five year old, but she dealt with the themes well. Lots of talking points.

After aspiring makeup artist McKenna is dumped by her latest boyfriend, she drunkenly orders a box of adult toys and decides she is quitting men. Unfortunately her package is delivered mistakenly to her neighbor. When she goes to retrieve it, she discovers it is the hottie she's been side-eyeing in the elevator.

Beckett, an aspiring app developer, is also recently single. When sparkly McKenna ends up on his doorstep he is alarmed at his instant attraction to her, especially since he needs to win back his ex-fiancee so her father will go through with a promised $2 million investment for his app.

Both want to focus on launching their careers and neither need the distraction, but their attraction is real. Is passion and excitement worth risking it all for?

A cute read and I enjoyed the characters careers, as they are a bit different than the ones you normally see in romance novels. Beckett wasn't my favorite hero, as I found his desire to win back his fiancee for money to be a bit yucky.

All in all, a fun workout read.

A former competitive ice skater turned sports journalist butts heads (and hearts) with an icy Swedish hockey coach. An enemies to lovers tale full of banter, sexual tension, and an air hockey bet turned into wedding date.

This was my first Lia Riley and I super enjoyed her wit, especially the Star Wars references! Her heroine is a hard working, realist with some self-doubts plaguing her since her sudden exit from ice skating for "not being feminine enough." I appreciated her love of her profession, her age (she's 30), and her willingness to try new things, even dating the damn guy who said he would rather have sex with a penguin (!!), but not without confronting him about it first.

There was enough drama, but no lies. While not my favorite hero, Tor was a hunk who eventually melted my heart.

I do have to say the cover kind of...turns me off? Like, whoa, head right there. But hey, this is an eBook so it isn't like you have to carry it around. Also, the characters names were a bit much and Riley does try to pack in the plot points despite the short length. From ice skating, ex-wives (who, kudos to Riley, was a great but very minor character), a daughter, a car accident, to hockey, and even booby-tassel dancing, some of the things felt a bit rushed when I really just wanted Tor and Neve to be together on the page.

Still, give it a go, you won't be sad.

Thank you to Avon for the free review copy!

Ugh. I read this to tick off my 2017 Book Riot Read Harder Challenge "read a book published by a micropress" and so I grabbed this locally published poetry chap book from the shelves of the library I work at.

I am obviously not the author's target demographic and did not enjoy his take on sex, women, and relationships. I did slightly enjoy the one poem about standing in a check out line at the now non-existent Jewel-Osco.

When Avalon sees her boyfriend and business partner's naked behind with another woman, she hightails it home. Emotions high, she finds herself winning an auction for the mansion her rich high school boyfriend grew up in. Mac broke her heart when she over heard him calling her "nothing but a hick from the sticks," but the tables have turned.

Mac is no longer big money, but surprise, he IS the groundskeeper for the mansion. Avalon may have won the auction but Mac is determined to make her run back to her new fancy life in San Francisco as the CEO of a start-up tech company.

Both are determined to scare the other away, but both can't help but be drawn back to each other.

With echoes of The Money Pit, this is a funny, sweet, and sexy battle of the titans, complete with cute animals (goats! a cat! a cat-dog!), dare-devilry, and maybe even a ghost. I will definitely be picking up rest of this series!

A sweet addition to the Chloe/Sawyer romance, but definitely very brief. I wish this was included in larger collection instead of a single, but I can always spend more time in Lucky Harbor. :)

Did a quick re-read of this sweet holiday novella because I just finished re-reading [b:Head Over Heels|10599302|Head Over Heels (Lucky Harbor, #3)|Jill Shalvis|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1302052809s/10599302.jpg|15506975]. I love Chloe and Sawyer, and I adore how Shalvis deftly handles a trying period in any couple's life, impending parenthood. While I could punch Sawyer for not smooching his very pregnant wife goodbye before heading out to for a dangerous DEA raid (FOR A WEEK), I get the tension. Pregnancy emotions are real people. I also did like the flashback scenes (hawt), because it would have been a bit weird to include sexy-times scenes in the present timeline.

Cade "Alamo" Burnett has been obsessed with former hockey star Dante Moretti since he was a kid. You would think working for your childhood idol would be a dream job, but Dante isn't just a Cade's career inspiration. He's one of Cade's first major crushes.

Dante also notices the young, hot new player and is astounded when Cade makes a move on him one very sexy night. Their chemistry is ice-melting but if they are caught there could be very real consequences.

While Cade admires that Dante is out, he isn't ready to become the first openly gay hockey player in the league. Dante appreciates Cade's struggle, but isn't sure he's willing to risk his job for a man who isn't willing to commit to him openly.

While a short novella, this is a great addition to the Chicago Rebels Series, and it was so great to see the tension being built between these two characters finally come full circle.

Thank you to Avon for the ARC!

After his mother is given scandalous advice from one Lady Truelove, the Duke of Torquil decides he must find out who the advice columnist is and make the offending writer fix her error.

To Torquil's dismay, Lady Truelove is the utterly beguiling and entirely, unsuitably modern Miss Irene Deverill. A Suffragist! The horror!

Firmly believing in her advice to Torquil's mother, Irene refuses to stop publishing the gossip and her advice column in the newspaper she took over from her drunk father. Unfortunately, her father still owns the paper and in exchange for the Duke's assistance in presenting Irene and her sister to society, he has agreed to sell the paper to Torquil!

Torquil gives Irene an ultimate, stop his mother's upcoming nuptials to the younger, poor Italian artist she eloped with based on Lady Truelove's advice, or lose her paper.

Irene, torn between her morals and her ambitions, agrees but instead hopes to change the Duke's mind.

Two stubborn hearts, a Duke steeped in tradition and wary of love, and a woman intent on changing history, this is a classic enemies to lovers tale sure to melt the iciest of hearts.

I adored Irene's shirtwaists and ties, her convictions, and her willingness to explore an affair with the Duke with no marriage in mind. She doesn't want to be a Duchess, but she wants him. Torquil was an icy Duke of an imperious nature, with a soft, sexy heart he forgot he even had. I loved seeing Irene melt him down.

I also enjoyed all the sexy consent. There is a great love scene that showcases Torquil's willingness to stop, no matter what, if that is what Irene wants. More of this please!

I will definitely be reading the next books in this series. I'm glad I tried another Guhrke, as I didn't really enjoy my first.
