On A Night Like This
by Barbara Freethy
When Sara returns home to try yet again to connect with her icy father, her surprise appearance startles him into setting his kitchen on fire. Thankfully hunky former next door neighbor AND trained fire fighter Aidan is also visiting home. Aidan is able to rescue them both from the smoke when Sara's father tries to run into the basement to save a mysterious unknown something. Sara and Aidan hooked up once as teens, but he stopped things before they went too far, crushing Sara's young heart. Now both adults, they still have sparks that won't be tamped out, despite Sara's father problems and Aidan's work issues.
Really heavy on plot and development of the various "mysteries," including the tragic death of Aidan's best friend and partner. Not terrible, just not my favorite. I got this for free from an Amazon deal.
