If you are looking for a new YA series to fill the void now that Twilight and the Hunger Games are both finito...look no further! Full of florid writing, angst filled teenagers with special powers, mythical creatures, and of course a love triangle, The Mortal Instruments is the series for you (and coming to theatres August 2013).

First Read 07/2012.

**Review from second read 06/21/14 - 06/24/14

Matthew and Diana have time-walked back to Elizabethan England to try and find the enchanted Ashmole text and to attempt to find a teacher for Diana's burgeoning witchcraft. Fitting a modern American woman into 1590's society will not be easy, nor will fitting in with Matthew's old crowd of scholars, royals, and spies.

Enchanting, engaging, and full of vivid detail, this is a series I adore. I appreciated this book more the second go around as I wasn't frantic to find certain answers and I could really delve into the details of the time period.

I still found some little things that annoyed me about the time traveling aspects, but I don't care. The ride is what it is all about.

Second go around - 04/29/2014 - audiobook version
Oh my god Augustus Waters. That's all I can say. Also, GREAT audiobook narrator - Kate Rudd. Wonderful job. Thank you for making me drive around crying.

Both heart-breaking and snarky, this book really made me believe in young star crossed love. I felt it was a very accurate and poignant depiction of what a young person who is confronted with their own mortality would actually feel like.

Read this book for AP World Lit in High School, but I could NOT remember the title or author. Finally figured it out today. Now I should really reread...

I was obsessed with the EU in my tweens/teens (ok still am) and this was by far my favorite addition to the Star Wars canon. And dammit it still is canon to me! Luke and Callista's doomed romance probably messed me up for life, but holy hell did I love every minute of it.

This was the first chapter book I EVER read. I remember it took me for-ever to finish it. I believe I was in 1st grade and had to convince my mom I could handle it. <3
