I'm getting so tired of reading the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. I've finished book 7, which is an entire book that basically nothing happens in that furthers the plot. Oh hey, there's this cool bowl that can change the weather, so we're gonna spend two whole books looking for it and then not using it when it is found, even though the drought is surely killing as many people as the Shadow is right now.
Also, I know that Rand needs help, wants us to join him, all of that, but I think I'll just go over here and do this other thing instead, even though someone else could easily have done this thing. Rand can just sit and wait for me until I'm damn good and ready to return to him and do the thing he wants me to do, the thing that only I am capable of doing in the whole world. Which might be never actually, cause I won't be bossed around. Not even by the guy who's trying to save the whole world.
Besides that, everyone uses balefire for everything, despite the fact that it completely erases the entirety of a person's life, including any instances of them coming into other people's lives. Though this can tear holes in the pattern that the wheel weaves, and is extremely dangerous, all the main magic users continue to use it on people like the Forsaken, who are very important threads in the pattern, with little to no bad consequences. I'm getting so mad about this. Like, seriously Rand, Eguwayen, Avienda, do you not realize that you could erase yourselves from existence? What happens if Rand no longer exists to fight the Shadow? Are you people stupid? Can I reach into the book and shake you?

Every time I come back to Vampire Chronicles (and somehow I always do) I remember how much I hate Lestat as a person and a character and how much I hate that ALL the other vampires just LET him do whatever he pleases, no matter if it happened to be good for the rest of them or not. Especially for as feeble an excuse as they all seem to have had.
This book is, of course, a final nail in the coffin to my hatred of Lestat. The vampires most certainly have made their beds this time. Lestat is a scoundrel, and unfortunately, they can no longer back out and destroy him for the stupid things he's done.
However, I do so enjoy the portrayal of the vampires in the Vampire Chronicles series, because their struggles over losing their humanity seem so real to me. I love knowing the problems they possess upon dying and becoming vampires, and the utter stigma that they are constantly trying to overcome with their own existence, and being damned for all eternity by God.
Besides this, Anne Rice does a remarkable job portraying the horror of what an existence drinking blood to survive truly is. She does not shy away from the need for blood, or how it is obtained. Her craftsmanship at portraying so fully the immersive life of a vampire is what brings me back to her stories again and again, despite my utter loathing of her main character, the Brat Prince, Lestat.

First, for the bad. I thought this would be a lot different than what it was in many ways.
The title promises that you will learn to build your brand on Social Media. It does not tell you that it focuses primarily on Instagram and talks about virtually no other platform. It does not say that if you have less than 100,000 Instagram followers, and especially if you have less than 25,000 followers, you will not be able to use any of these tactics. It does not help you figure out how to get to even 1,000 followers except to say that trying to brand or niche your account before you have 1,000 followers is pointless.
This book is heavily slanted towards beauty and photography bloggers on Instagram. I was hoping that this was going to be a more general roadmap towards gaining success and engaged followers across many Social Media platforms. Many, if not most of the examples given are about gaining sponsorships, and about how you should react when someone wants you to sponsor content on your Instagram account. As an author, I'm not interested in sponsoring content from big name brands so that I can get free makeup samples and handbags, so this part just really fell flat for me.
And now the good. I listened to the Audiobook and now I want to get a physical copy to know more.
There is a roadmap, of sorts. There is a path laid out here, though it seems to me that some of the signposts have been obscured. I may have to rethink aspects of the roadmap to better fit my brand. I'm an author, so the point isn't to sell other people's stuff on Instagram, the point is to get people excited about my own stuff.
I found the section about webpage content to be the most useful to me. While I don't care about sponsorships, some of the sample wording in the section about webpages really made a lot of sense. I can see how that would tell people a lot more about my content and my brand than what I have and I want to make those changes soon.
