I found the introduction really fascinating, but the historical figures discussed in subsequent chapters failed to capture my interest

I should have liked it, but it was less "and they were both boys" and more "here is the historical context in which these people lived" which isn't bad, just not for me! There were some great bits in the introduction that gave me some introspection.

I just couldn’t get into this one :( 

I think this book was too smart for me! I’m sure the right person would LOVE this. 

I don't normally pick up fantasy, but I just knew with four POV's and the slow start this wouldn't be an enjoyable read for me. :(

This wasn’t connecting for me. Gwen seems like a cool character tho! 

nope, had to stop after a graphic scene. first book was good but I won’t need to finish the series.
