I enjoyed this book. Her journey through India & the ashram grated on me a little & I found it to drag on just a little too long.
Overall I liked her writing style & it was presented in a personable manner than made you feel like you were personally invited.

i read this book as part of my english course during high school and studied it in depth. because i was only young i doubt i fully understood the importance this book has in literary history and why it is revered so much, but perhaps given the chance to read again i would probably understand why and may even like it.
2013 REVIEW:
well I actually enjoyed this much more than I remember enjoying it in English class those 10 or so years ago... I took a lot more of it in & thoroughly enjoyed Fitzgerald's writing. They say its the epitome of the American dream & in ways it is but I wouldn't say it's the book that's the epitome of the American dream. Perhaps the first one that portrayed it in a way that people could relate to or it was the first book of its kind to even address the american dream in the way that Fitzgerald did.

quick and easy read - a definite tsiolkas read.
loved it - didn't enjoy it as much as dead europe, but for something that was quite short, he managed to get a lot of story and dialogue into it which gave a decent depth to the main character.
tsiolkas has definitely become one of my favourite authors, just wish he had more published works!

good book.. differed from the film a little. but overall i enjoyed it. nothing overly spectacular but held my interest long enough for me to keep turning the pages.
the character of Rosie was clearly the best in the book. bought all the characters and the story together nicely.

This was definitely a John Green book - the story was a typical Green story (young teen angst) and I did enjoy it but I didn't connect to it like I did the fault in our stars..
There were good morals and lessons in the book and I do like that there were some educational elements but as mentioned above i didn't connect to any of the characters like i thought that i would.

I really enjoyed the storyline, but the ending in regards to the 'father project' was a little far fetched - I don't believe that a medical student would make such an error in regards to genetics/biological parenting. I did see the eventual outcome about a third of the way through the book but this didn't bother me as i found the two main characters and their odd relationship fascinating. It also helped that both of the main characters (Don and Rosie), whilst both weird in their own ways, had lovable and cute traits that as a reader drew you into the book and made you feel a certain kinship with them.
I will end in saying though, the entire time that i was reading this, I constantly pictured Don in my mind as Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory - could budge the image no matter how hard I tried!

Loved Sophia's perspective and her writing style was fantastic - extremely easy to read and follow.
Will definitely be taking many of her lessons and much of her advice towards my own life and ambitions.
This will be a book that I continually refer back to over time.
Recommend it to anyone who is a #GIRLBOSS - wishes to be a #GIRLBOSS - or even wishes to attack life head on with #GIRLBOSS precision and skill. (also would apply to #GUYBOSSES too)

then ending to this book irritated the crap out of me!
the writing style and story line was okay, but nowhere near as amazing (i do not mean this as a pun - people who have read the book will understand) as I had been lead to believe by so many high praise reviews.

i really enjoyed this book. very well written (although the character Eleanor did somewhat irritate me) and a good length.
I did feel that the story line used to end the book could have been written a little better. it needed more content once Eleanor had rushed out of her family home, there just wasn't enough to make the story line entirely viable. if it had been a chapter or two longer focusing on this and giving the story a little more depth, I probably wouldn't have had any qualms about this book.
I love YA books, they always seem so relate able regardless of your age.
