I don't know why I thought this collection of stories was going to be beautiful poetry with metaphors. I had not realized that despite my recent research and education journey about the oppression of the Palestinian people and the visual scenes of bombed cities, unalived families, and orphaned children that I still had rose colored glasses to be snatched off. But they were snatched.
This read was so incredibly educational and eye opening. I have previously read other recommended books on the Palestine Reads book and though I had a idea of how horrible the Palestinian people have been treated over the last 75 years. So, the moment a document from the 1800's was referenced, breath left my lungs. Because ONCE again this runs soo much deeper than I had realized.
This book needs to be a required read in every history and government course. It was well written and flowed very well. Despite the wealth of education on the pages at no point did I feel like this was a textbook. I enjoyed it greatly and highly recommend to anyone that wants to become more informed on the Ethnic Cleansing of the INDIGINOUS PALESTINAIAN PEOPLE and Israel's Apartheid Practices.

Raw, Emotional. Honest, Vivid
I fell in love with this author and this collection. He touched on so many feelings, societal expectations and hypocrisy, self-acceptance, anger, living your truth.

This was entertaining AF!
I listened to this on audio which is out of my comfort zone, but the voice actress did a phenomenal job expressing the different characters, emotions, and projecting the vibe of each scene.
I've always been a fan of villains and this book gave me multiple likable villains and one I wanted to punch in the jaw.
The politics, the bond, and the theme of weaponizing your love all resonated. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

When I say this is one of the best books I have read in my life, know that it is not said lightly or with exaggeration. The way this story had me a choke hold was insane.
I smiled, I laughed, I held my breath, I got mad, big mad, I cried. And then at 85% I had to take a break and just breath and reflect because thoughts of the Panter 21 and the Central Park 5 were racing through my mind, and I had to process.
This was beautifully written, the author takes us through the events leading up to an explosion that is deemed domestic terrorism and the arrest, incarceration, trail, and aftermath of 6 teens who were attending their respective Muslin Student Association event and targeted as scapegoats for a massive coverup.
If you read this and at any point, think that this is unbelievable then you truly are living in a bubble and are not aware of the corruption in our legal system and the ability to buy a cover up. Let's not forget major corporations have gotten away with poisoning entire towns.
It was a privilege to read this story and I hope that once it releases that it catches the eyes and hears of Hollywood because an adaptation be it a series or movie would be impactful.

Vibes: The Virgin Suicides, Killing of a Sacred Deer, and Where the Wild Things Are
I devoured this book; I was unable to put it down. It's what I consider a sophisticated horror. Very ominous, twists, and unsettling moments. It's weird and the "theme" can be interpreted a few different ways. It's unnerving and psychological.
We have sisters Renata and Isla who come from "new" money. They are raised by their self-made grandmother who always encouraged them to be independent, expressive, and strong. However, now that the sisters are 17 and 20 the grandmother decides to send them to the most elite finishing school in the area. Not because she wants them to be ladylike and conform to society standards but because she wants people to respect them, and she knows graduating from said school is an ivy league badge that demands respect.
Right from the jump Isla is like fuck this shit, these bitches are Stefford wife crazy I'm outie. Reneta refuses to leave so she gets left behind. Isla is our FMC and after her big sister returns brainwashed, she decides to return to the school to get answers and find out how to help her sister.
These sisters are NOT Anna & Elsa and they don't have a heartwarming ending. Instead, Isla finds herself drawn in by the madness.
This was a satisfying and fast paced read for me. It was trippy, the ending doesn't wrap everything up with a bow, but I liked it. It explores sexuality, society standards, femininity, suppressing desires, embracing your dark side, self-love, and acceptance.

Full disclosure, I DNF'd this book at 85% NOT because it wasn't good but because I lost interest.
Here's the deal, I can usually finish a book of this length in less than 2 days. I am currently on day 4 and I literally have no desire to finish it. With that said, you are probably like bitch if you didn't finish it, how you gonna give it 3 stars?!?!
Let me explain, this book started out very good. I was super excited about the action, the strong female leads, the terminator robots, the the theme of overthrowing your oppressors. There were a lot of good moments. I got the following vibes - Woman King, Linda Hamilton aka Sara Connor, and John Wick BADASSNESS.
I thought the introduction of a sadist female villain was a unique choice as well. But things got weird and lost and confusing. Our FMC is annoying, the obsession with tit talk is getting old, the emotional relationship between the FMC and her sisters is seriously lacking, and now our FMC has been forced to undergo a Bionic Woman makeover with a Kim K ass.
I just can't ya'll. I never thought I'd say this but I need this book to be longer so that the author can fill in the gaps and do better transitions. Half the time I don't know how our girl got from Point A to Point B.
Three stars for me means it's a good book. I do believe this has a lot of good elements. But I can't continue myself to read this as my ADD can't keep up with all that is going on.
