So many people, professors included, recommended this book, but it just didn't do anything for me. Only one story had me cry-laughing, and it was the shortest one. Everything else was just OK.
This starts out great. Chuck Klosterman touring the country for the death spots of rock stars? Count me in. But around the middle of the book, it all goes downhill. He turns the focus of the story onto his love life. The chapters begin to read like diary entries. The witty quips about pop culture fade away.
And the "ANYWAY."s every time he gets off topic is annoying.
There are some nice insights and inadvertent band recommendations, though, so that's nice.

That’s right, the most effed-up guy wrote a self-help book. But it isn’t 100 percent helpful. It is more along the lines of, “Yeah, you’re fat, and it sucks, but hey, at least you’re not dead.” Keep this one on your shelf for when you’re feeling sorry for yourself and need a reminder that you aren’t a blob of slime. It’s a bit bleak, and a lot realistic, and, surprisingly, helpful. Tough love, baby.

I love Ken Jennings and I love old wives tales and I love this book. Also: audio read by the author and it is so delightful.
Hilarious and fascinating. All nerds must read (or listen to!) this book. It was made especially for us [Citation needed].
