A haunted house... Button House, it came from nowhere and to nowhere must it return. Horrible things have been happening in that house with murders happening and murderers being born.. and now the town must find a way to protect itself. This one wasn't what I was expecting. I adore haunted house stories and this one definitely was so different from what I had anticipated. The perspective is a little bit odd and the story itself didn't feel as spooky or as enticing as I had hoped. I normally really love spooky stories but this one kind of felt unmemorable for me. If you like unique haunted house stories give it a go, maybe you'll have a better time with it than I did.

A sapphic space opera with found family, a dead monster on the loose, and politics? Sign me up. When deadly creatures known as Tanglers escape, its up to each clan to send a representative to help capture the creature. Việt Nhi has a difficult time with people, politics, and being touched, yet she is being forced to work with a group of teammates from rival clans. Hạc Cúc f the Snake clan has always been better at poisoning and stabbing people rather than making plans, yet she can't help but be drawn in by Nhi. Nhi hates the touch of others yet she finds herself craving Hạc Cúc's touch. When the mission goes a bit askew since their imperial envoy and nominal leader is poisoned.... the team will have to find the invisible Tangler before it destroys everything and both Nhi and Hạc Cúc will have to find out if they can get past their misconceptions and embrace their feelings for each other. This was a fantastic little space opera filled with romance, loyalty, found family, and action. It really captures everything in such a short span of time and it was a fun read! I would absolutely recommend it for anyone looking for a fast paced adventure!

Rival academics with a touch of To All the Boys I've Loved Before in this story about a girl who's emails about her rival and the entire school are sent... and now she has to deal with the fall out of it as well as possibly falling for the one guy she never thought she would. For 10 years Sadie Wen and Julius Gong have been competing against each other. They've made everyone at school's life a bit difficult with their extreme need to beat each other. Sadie hates Julius, she hates how perfect he is, how handsome he is, how smart and mean he is. The only way to vent her angry? Draft up emails to him and everyone else whenever they make her angry... except now suddenly all those emails have been sent out. Now everyone is getting to see the real Sadie, and the careful "perfect" image of herself is going up in flames. Yet one person seems to appreciate the real her... and it's none other than Julius. The more Julius and Sadie begin to talk to each other after the truth is revealed the more complicated the feelings begin to grow and Sadie is starting to realize that maybe the boy she's been obsessively trying to beat... the one person who is constantly on her mind might be the perfect person for her. This one was meh for me, I had really high hopes for it but it kind of fell flat unfortunately. I just couldn't really vibe with Sadie and the situations she ended up in just didn't make sense. Sadie is suppose to be super intelligent but can't even keep a diary or oh I dont know, a word doc of letters but saved a ton of draft emails and then doesn't make sure that they are properly locked up and can't be sent? I don't believe it. Also she goes from being outspoken and to being walked over by people, she'll want to out do Julius but never speaks out about people using her and letting herself be a pushover to please people? Pick a lane girl, either you can stand up for yourself and are a go getter or a timid people pleaser. Also the romance with Julius barely even felt there and I love academical rivals to lovers stories. It literally barely happens by the end of the book. I wish I liked this book more, it had the elements of all the things I usually love, but it just missed the mark for me sadly. If you enjoy academic rivals to lovers give this one a go, maybe you'll have a better time with it than I did.

Three people, thrown into a world of magic and forced to go to witch college all the while deal with relationship drama, new powers, and no escape. This story is told in about 6 POVS and the three main characters are Ellie ( a local librarian who lives a cozy life), Maggie (a lawyer who is trying to escape her abusive ex and save her son), and Dan (a guy who went hiking and was dying of cancer but has a second chance at life). Ellie meets Prospero, a mysterious woman who kisses her ( Prospero was going to kill her but decided not to, she was sent to retrieve Ellie because there was a prophecy about Ellie saving the magic world). Maggie gets into a car crash that was planned by her husband that would have killed her and her son but her magic awakened when she saved them both only for her to be whisked away by the handsome Sondre, the headmaster of the witch college, and Dan awakens after a hiking accident at the witch college. Ellie is excited about the prospect of having magic and falling for the beautiful woman who kissed her. Maggie wants nothing more than to escape and go back to her son, but that wont stop her from sleeping with Sondre. Dan refuses to leave, he wants to stay at witch college forever. All the while witches are dying from a mysterious disease and the Ellie has to solve the prophecy. This book was a if you took three drops of paint and put it into water, muddy, all over the place, and lacking any clear distinction and the end product is just something that is unclear and not pretty. Initially I was so excited to read this book but it immediately fell flat, and I kept pushing myself to finish it and the fact that this is the first book in the series is a big no thank you, especially with how this book went. I definitely will not be continuing this series. This book starts off abruptly and is all over the place, the characters all lacked depth and actual interesting aspects to them, the world building felt nonexistent, and cohesive story where? The book doesn't really feel like much is happening and for a book that was advertised as The Magicians meets One Last Stop, it gave neither to me and I enjoyed both of those books. This book was not for me, and unfortunately I should have DNF'ed by the second chapter because it just kept dragging on and I just was left disappointed by the end. This one is not for me and if you like magic school and relationship drama then give it a go, I guess, maybe you'll have a better time with it than I did.
*SPOILER* The ending itself was just not it ( the fact that Maggie is forced into a marriage and to have her and her sons minds warped and she has to obey Sondre while Ellie is forced into marriage and mindwipe by Prospero all the while Dan ( who barely even had any personality or characterization throughout the book and really did NOTHING, seriously go on Dan, give me nothing) gets to just enjoy life. I felt ick, just so much ick,

The story about a writer who sleeps with the devil and writes stories for him throughout her life after seeing him again and again. The writer met the devil at a Halloween party in 1999... and she slept with him. It was only once but after that she sees him over and over again throughout her life. She's a writer and she spends the rest of her life writing stories for him. She writes little standalone stories that are all interconnected in the novel and the story itself is a blend of things. It's definitely a unique structure and it feels surreal. The story discusses the immigration experience and weaves surrealism and fantasy into modern life. It's an interesting story and has a unique feel to it.

A teen who must come to terms with her disability while dealing with school drama, a complicated relationship with her family, and the one boy she let go... but the real struggle is deciding what her future holds for her. Brynn Kwan is disabled, she deals with chronic pain and a body that she can't really control, she has Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. Brynn wants so badly to pretend the version of herself that she puts forth is the real one, she's been hiding her disability from everyone, only her family knows. Brynn so desperately wants to uphold the perfect happy version of herself that she created, but when an incident at school has her suspended, it gives Brynn time to re-evaluate what exactly her disability means to her. She also has to work on a project with her ex-boyfriend Oliver, the one guy she dumped because she was afraid her illness would hold him back... yet spending time with him again has her thinking maybe she should tell him the truth. Brynn is dealing with so much, from fighting against her own body's limits to trying to learn to open herself up to those close to her and telling them about her disability. This book was so so heartwarming. Brynn felt like such a well fleshed out character and her story was beautiful. She struggles with being vulnerable while trying to not let her disability define her, yet trying to accept it is so difficult for her. She struggled with so much but was so resilient and her story was absolutely amazing. I loved Brynn so much, and her family was so supportive and sweet and I adored Oliver. This felt like such a realistic and authentic book, and I just think everyone should read it. It's a story that just emotionally resonates with you and I loved it.

A lady knight who decides to kill a dragon and steal a famous blade to regain her honor after being rejected by the man she loved. Maddileh is on a quest to kill a famed dragon known as The White Lady to get the Fireborne Blade. Yet when she finds herself with a mage she is positive she didn't hire... especially because of her strong dislike of them... her memories are too foggy for her to deny it though. Her journey will take an unexpected turn and the mage she's stuck with will definitely play a larger part in the outcome of her journey. This one was a weird one for me, it's a short novella so I know it didn't have a lot of space to world build, but the story itself felt a bit stilted and the confusing at times. It's short and shouldn't be as boring as it was. I was really hoping for more from a story about a female knight and a dragon ( I'm a sucker for stories involving both so this should have been right up my lane...). It's alright overall but I was just hoping for more. The twist of the story was okay but it just didn't really pay off in the end. Overall it was an okay novella and if you like lady knight stories with dragons give it a go, maybe you'll have a better time with it than I did.

A family of witches, a girl who can communicate with ghosts, sins from the past, and murders.... this is a fantastic and fun gothic witchy story with a dash of romance and complicated family relationships. Ellie Briar is the first non-witch to be born into her family for generations, and in a well known witch family such as the Briar Witches, being a non-witch makes you seen as less. The Briar family of witches run the town of Silverton, being tasked with looking after the community and people with their skills and magic. Ellie is being trained as a steward despite her lack of magic, she is to do administration for the town and ward off the church that has taken an interest in them. When her grandmother dies, Ellie's cousin Audra is made the new head Briar Witch and Ellie is made the steward. While Ellie navigates her new role she also discovers that she has a power she never realized, and no one in her family ever talked about, she can talk to ghosts and its up to her to help them move on. It comes in handle especially with so many ghosts in town and a recent death looming over the town. To make matters more complicated there is a new god-hound in town, someone sent by the church yet he's taken a particular interest in Ellie. As Ellie discovers her new abilities she also begins to uncover dark family secrets... that are playing into the dark plot that is happening right in front of her that she has to find a way to stop before it destroys everything Ellie holds dear. This was a really fun read and the story gets you really immersed in the town and the people. Ellie was a really interesting protagonist and I loved her journey and growth throughout the story. The story is much more focused on the mystery and family drama and has a dash of romance but its much more about the family relationship and power dynamics in them. The story is a gothic witchy one with a dash of mystery and romance all set in a small community and it was the perfect cozy day read for me. I've always loved A.G. Slatter's books and this one did not disappoint. I can't wait to see what story A.G. Slatter comes out with and I love that it's set in the same universe as their previous two novels ( which I also love and highly recommend).

A boy dealing with chronic illness finds a new friend in a vampire classmate... and together a sweet romance blooms. Perley has had to take time off school because he was diagnosed with diabetes over the summer and now has to catch up with school. When he's joined by another student, Amandine, a vampire, together they begin to sweet friendship that begins to turn into something more. Amandine is dealing with the struggles of being a recently turned vampire and what it means for her to adjust to a new lifestyle. Both of them are going through new struggles but together they'll get through it. This was a really cute read and I enjoyed the characters' journeys and how they fell in love. It's an overall really sweet read and I had fun with it. I would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a cute paranormal romance with a bit of coming of age and fun family and friends characters. The artwork is really cute too!

A charming and cozy read about Pooh and his friends from the Hundred Acre Woods as they deal with misadventures and fun. This was such a cute and cozy read and still keeps the charm of the classic characters. It's perfect for fans of Frog and Toad and anyone who enjoys a sweet and adorable read. It perfectly captures the essence of the original characters but with a modern feel and twist and I think its just delightful!
