Childhood friends are reunited after their sports careers take different turns and a wild puppy might be the perfect way to start their second chance at happiness together. Kendall Walsh dreamed about making it into the Olympics but a crash that lead to a near death has her giving up her sports dreams. She now works at her father's resort as a wedding planner and at her first planned wedding a wild puppy gets loose and almost runs straight into the cake but is stopped by none other than Olympic skier Brody James... Kendall's childhood best friend and crush. Brody is an Olympic skier, he's famous, he's career is thriving, he has a model girlfriend, he should be happy with his perfect life... yet he's not. He's so unhappy he's run away from his career and secretly returned home to attend his relative's wedding and run into his best friend's little sister, Kendall, the one girl who won't bat her eyelashes and giggle at him, and the one girl who now has his full attention. Brody is struggling to find what he wants to do with his life but one conversation with Kendall and he's suddenly feeling grounded again, she makes him feel grounded and he knows that he's willing to do anything to hold onto that feeling. Brody and Kendall begin to spend more time together while they both work out their paths and their feelings for each other... but is their second chance at romance going to work? This was a very Hallmark-esque romance and it's an overall cute enough read. I think it would make a great one for the winter and it's overall sweet.

Second chance romance between two ex childhood best friends who may have secretly gotten married but left each other but are reunited again when their ownership stakes in a destination inn forces them to face each other. Hannah Rosentein should be happy, she's now the co-owner of the destination inn Carrigan's All Year, her happy place but unfortunately so is her first love, biggest heartbreak, and absentee husband, Levi "Blue" Matthews. Levi left Carrigan's to pursue his dreams of becoming a celebrity chef, and he has made it. He's famous, and he's proud to be the queer cook who made a name for himself yet his return is not as welcoming as he had planned, especially since his family is made at him, his best friend is dating his nemesis, and Hannah, his wife, wants him to leave... again. Levi and Hannah grew up as childhood best friends turned lovers, but Levi left when Hannah asked him to, and now he's back because she's asked him to come back but this time he wants to be back in her life permanently and he's going to do whatever it takes to prove it to her. Hannah and Levi want two completely different things but they can't stay away from one another, can they make it work this time? This is the spinoff book to the Seasons of Love (which I absolutely adored) but unfortunately this one didn't work for me. Hannah and Levi are suppose to be in their 30s but acted like teenagers, the miscommunication trope went hard on this one, and honestly they both just didn't really feel like they worked together that well. I didn't find myself liking or caring about their relationship all that much, which is so unfortunate because I adored the first book so much. If you like second chance romances with tons of miscommunication then this is for you!

When a chance encounter between a bookworm and a basketball player turns steamy in the stacks after hours... neither of them expects the events that are to come. Kendall Holiday spends her Friday knights working in her college library, usually with a romance book on hand and some peace and quiet, just how she likes it. Except this Friday night is interrupted by Vincent Knight, the school's star basketball player who asks for her help in finding a poetry book for a paper he has to get done. What starts off as a search for a book ends up with a make-out session in the stacks... yet thing's only spiral from there as these two opposites find themselves fumbling as they try and make a relationship work. Romance is never as easy as it is in the books but maybe they'll have a fighting chance. This was a cute and fun romance read about two college students and I enjoyed how cheesy and fun it was.

When teen social media influencer Anton Frazer stages a live-streamed, city wide game of Tag... things get unhinged when a girl who worked for him who died years ago is back and taking over the game accusing one of the contestants as being her murderer... and the only way out of the game is to expose the killer. Four contestants, all with their own motives for wanting to win, and one killer amongst them who will start killing to keep their secret... as the night goes on more secrets will be revealed and soon the killer will be exposed. Anton Frazer is a teen social media influencer who's reputation was exposed when a girl who worked for him died at one of his parties, the police said it was a drug overdose.... but something about the story doesn't add up. Now he's back with a new game and the truth of the events that happened that night will be exposed. This was a who dun it mystery with a ticking clock, everyone was unlikable and had motive, and the mystery was meh at bets. You can absolutely figure out who did it early on. Honestly all the characters were terrible and I wasn't really rooting for anyone.

Two wolf shifters agree to be fake mates but what started off as a way to get people off their backs begins to feel very much like falling in love. Mackenzie Carter has been going on bad dates and she's tired of her Grandmother obsessing over her settling down. Mackenzie just wants to focus on her career in the hospital and avoid dating as much as possible, so when she lies to her grandmother and says she has a boyfriend... she accidentally uses the name of the one doctor that she'll have the worst time convincing to be her fake boyfriend, Noah Taylor. Noah Taylor is the interventional cardiologist and a bit of a misanthrope, he's known as the biggest grump in the hospital and people avoid him as much as possible, yet he's a genius and a wonderful doctor.... but he's hiding his own secret. Noah is an unmated Alpha, and someone snitched on him to the board of directors at the hospital and his job is on the line if he can't convince them he has a mate and doesn't have any legendary alpha rage issues. So when Mackenzie's proposal literally lands in his lap, he offers her a counter deal, she pretends to be his mate while he gets the board off his back and in return he'll help keep guys away from her and pretend to be her boyfriend for her grandma. Noah and Mack are complete opposites, she's fun and sunshiny while he's grumpy and a bit of a bore, yet the more time they spend pretending to be a couple the more they are actually beginning to fall for one another... and you know that once you try being friends with benefits... things are only going to get more complicated. Can Mack and Noah figure out who tried to get Noah fired while also figuring out their fake/real relationship situation? This was such a fun and cute read, Noah and Mack were a cute fake dating couple and I had so much fun with the grumpy x sunshine and fake dating tropes in this one. It's a fun paranormal romance and I would definitely recommend it.

Gods, battles, and revenge. Picking up where the first book left off Gem, Rory, and Enzo are now in a battle for their lives as the other gods want revenge. Unfortunately for me, this one was not an improvement from the first book, there was a bit of a lack of character development and the overall story felt underwhelming. I really wish I liked this book more. I loved how inclusive the book was and the great variety of representation, but other than that, this one didn't have much going for it. The book had a lot of repetitive moments and felt a bit slow at parts. It has a happy ending overall and that's great. Yet despite all of that this series was just a miss for me unfortunately. Hopefully if you like stories with vast sexual orientations and representation and a bit of war and gods, maybe you'll have a better time with it than I did.

A alternative history Beijing with a touch of Les-Miserables, Six of Crows, and Fullmetal Alchemist? Say less. Set in a futuristic world, a young thief finds herself with a new job, a failed rebellion at hand, and a revolution brewing. Zhong Ning'er is a thief who needs money, and her latest job has her working with people she never imagined, from a sad eyed army boy who dreams of insurrection, a former rebel leader trapped inside a secret lab, and group of aspiring revolutionaries. Ning'er is hired to break out the Lark, a former rebel leader, and this job is going to start a revolution. She's never much cared for politics, having to focus on her own problems and cynicism, yet this new job has her questioning everything and possibly giving into hope for change. This was a mix of Les Miserables, sci-fi heists, and a touch of romance and revolution. It was definitely a unique story and the overall plot was interesting. I was kind of wishing there was more though, I adore Six of Crows and Fullmetal Alchemist and there were elements of both in this book yet I just kind of wish there was more. The ending was interesting and you could have a second book, but this one could also work as a standalone. Overall if you enjoy stories with heists, political revolutions, and a touch of romance, definitely give this one a go.

A enchanting and beautiful take on the classic poem of the Goblin market. This was such a gorgeous ode to Christina Rossetti's classic poem and the artwork for this book was absolutely stunning. This book was a really whimsical read and I definitely will be purchasing it for my own book collection when it comes out!

A prank war between two rival neighbor families... and the fake dating scheme that might actually be more between an aspiring artist and his family's longtime enemies's son. Devin Baez is an aspiring artist and can't wait to spend a relaxing winter break at Lake Andreas. The only downside is that his obnoxious next door neighbors, the Seo-Cookes are also there and they are the undefeated champions of the lake's annual winter games. Devin's family and the Seo-Cookes are long time rivals. Yet when the handsome and perfect Julian Seo-Cooke comes to Devin and asks him to be his fake boyfriend, Devin sees it as an opportunity to get behind enemy lines and prove that the Seo-Cookes are cheating. While Devin and Julian's families are in a prank war.... Devin and Julian themselves begin to spend more time together and actually getting to know one another and potentially falling for each other... yet can their fake relationship last when their families hate each other? This was a cute queer rom com overall and if you enjoy rival fake dating, this is for you. The story feels a bit juvenile at points but it's an easy read and is nice overall.

Phaedra is on the case as well as dealing with her blooming relationship with fellow professor Mark. This was a cozy mystery with a touch of Jane Austen and a bit of modern day fun. This was an overall cute cozy mystery and you can read these as a standalone but they're more fun when you read it as a series. Overall, it was a pleasant time and a cute read.
