After turning down her long time boyfriend’s proposal, Nara decides to get closer to her roots and discover what and who she wants, even if it is the most unexpected person. Narah has finally realized she has had enough when her non-Armenian boyfriend proposes to her in a room full of drunk San Francisco tech boys. She realizes he is not what she wants and she wants to find someone who actually shares her idea of romance. So she decides to let her mom find the perfect partner for her, but that means she has to attend Explore Armenia, a month-long series of events in the city perfect for meeting new people. But the person who immediately catches her attention isn’t a wealthy handsome doctor or engineer, but rather Erebuni, a witchy woman who is not only intelligent but dedicated to preserving the arts and her Armenian identity. Narah and Erebuni hit it off immediately, but this is the first time Nar has actually started going out with a woman. Now she is struggling to come out to her community and family while also finally embracing her own culture. Nar is finally embracing her bisexual identity but does she have the courage to make the big step and come out? While she is dealing with this she is also dealing with being constantly overlooked at work and trying to connect to her culture. This was an interesting one because Nar is dealing with a lot on her plate, from trying to come out to dealing with the potential fall out of what could happen when she does. The more she prolongs coming out and the more her lies grow and get out of hand the worse it gets, it was especially difficult to read about what she decided to do when her lies come out and how she threw her partner under the bus. In the end it all works out, but it really was a not so great falling out and honestly if I were Erebuni I wouldn’t have gotten back with Nar after what she said and did. Overall, if you are looking for a romance story about a woman embracing her bisexual identity and her own culture, give this one a go.
A heartbroken witch, a cursed werewolf, and the fate between them. Belinda is a witch who loves to break curses, one day a man shows up in her shop asking her to help break his curse.... the only thing is that he is her soul mate. Things only get worse when she can’t break his curse and he leaves her. Now Belinda is just trying to move on after being rejected by her mate, she’s tried calling, she’s tried talking, but he’s left her....or so she thinks. She gets lost in the woods on the wya to her date and who does she run into? Said soul mate who left her a month ago who is very very interested in knowing why she is in the woods. Can she convince him that she loves him even in his cursed form or will his fear of being cursed separate them forever? This was such a fun little read and I loved just how outright Belinda was in her love for Jack. I would love to see more of them in the other books!
Royal alchemist Kaethe is on a mission to find her brother whom she was separated from after their parents were killed by raiding orcs. She has to keep her mission a secret because she is traveling into dangerous lands and what she least expects is to find herself being saved by an orc general and taken to his village where he has been secretly protecting humans.... but he has his own secrets that could unravel everything. Bazur is the General of the Black Claw Clan, he is one of the strongest orcs and has been secretly protecting all the humans and orcs in his village while complying with the king of orcs.... who had murdered his own family. Bazur is going to do anything to protect his village but when a bright haired gorgeous human lands in front of him he can’t help but want to help her. But both Kaethe and Bazur have their own secrets but their is a pool between them that they can’t deny. Can they find a way to trust one another or will their secrets destroy any chance of a relationship before they even have one? This was the spinoff to the first book and you do get to see the original couple in this one. Though you don’t have to read it in order, it’s much more enjoyable if you do. I liked the relationship between Bazur and Kaethe because they both want to make sure the other is happy and being helped but at the same time they both have their own issues to deal with. Their chemistry was great and I honestly had such a fun time with this one.
When your entire life depends on how well you can manage a game set on killing you, every decision can lead either one step closer or further from death. Penelope has found herself trying to plan to gain as much of a safety net as possible but that means getting the most seemingly docile boy to become her love interest.... except he is far more dangerous than she imagined. She needs a backup plan in case this fails and that means figuring which other love interest in the game would be her safest option. Her only options being a mysterious wizard who has his own agenda, a bloodthirsty tyrant who she definitely wants to avoid as much as possible but seems to be the most interested in her, and the potential familial love option from her two brothers..... but this game was set on the hardest level. Can she survive? This was a fun continuation of the story and i can’t wait to see where the third book leads us. I’ve read the korean translated version and now reading the official english one was a fun way to re-read the series!
Continuing where the story left off now Valentine has unleashed havoc onto both worlds, the Shadowhunter one and the Downworlder one. Jace is struggling with his feelings for Clary and Clary must find a way to unite all the factions in order to stop Valentine. Can she convince them all to work together or will it be impossible? Valentine has more surprises in store for both Jace and Clary... This was a fun adaptation of the novel and I do absolutely adore the artwork too. I can’t wait to see where the next book goes!
He’s a basilisk who’s eyes could kill you with one look and he’s the Star Manor’s latest client.... and the perfect match has been found for him in a beautiful innocent young woman who just happens to have the one thing that would let him look at her without harming her... she’s blind. Marius is a solitary creature, but he yearns for more, he yearns for a partner but his condition makes it very difficult to find a willing one. So when he is given an invitation to Star Manor he takes it.... yet he also is offered a deal if he spies at Star Manor for a competing company.... yet he soon finds that Lillian, the beautiful and fierce young woman has begun to melt his cold heart. Lillian has not had an easy life, in fact, everything has lead her to Star Manor as her last option at a chance of freedom from her situation. She finds herself drawn to the patient but attentive client she’s been paired with. Lillian and Marius might be just what the other has always needed, but will Marius’s secret spying lead to the destruction of their blossoming relationship? This was a cute novella set in the Rooksgrave Manor series that can definitely be read as a standalone. I adored the relationship between them and how caring they were for each other. Seriously, they were so precious.
