A girl who thinks she is being hired for her dream job at her favorite card game company... only to discover she’s been hired to be a familiar to actual witches, including a very handsome but grumpy warlock.Reggie Johnson answers a job ad in the paper and thinks she’s applying to work at her favorite card game, Spellcraft: The Magicking, instead she discovers she’s been hired to be a familiar to a witch with real magic. The job pays extremely well and all Reggie has to do is help around, offer to take care of the witch Dru and everything should be fine... except there there is Dru’s nephew, Caliban “Ben” Magnus who wants Reggie to not work there. Ben is grumpy, rude, and just infuriating. Ben is handsome, secretive, and bossy. Ben see’s Reggie as someone who clearly is in over her head and doesn’t think she is suited for the job. He’s busy with his own problems.. but he can’t seem to get the happy and sweet new familiar with freckles out of his mind. Soon something happens to put Dru under a curse and now Ben and Reggie have to find out who cursed her and how to fix it all the while dealing with the chemistry between the both of them. One minute they might be infuriating each other the next they can’t help but want to kiss the other. Both of them are dealing with their own family secrets and hurts and soon discover they might have more in common than they initially thought. This was a super cute read and perfect for fans of the Reylo ship! (SERIOUSLY).
A missing girl, a man who drinks alone, a cat who reads the bible, and a girl looking for her missing sister. Four people who are all entwined with one another in this mystery, paranormal, horror-esque, thriller. The story is told through 4 POVs and is filled with interesting twists and turns. At first the story starts off a bit slow but by the end it’s at full pace. I was surprised by the twists and had fun reading this book. The main characters of the story include Lauren (a teenage girl who is forbidden from leaving the house and is the “daughter” of Ted), Ted ( a man who was abused as a child and loves his daughter Lauren and his cat Olivia), Olivia is a cat who lives with Ted and reads the bible, and finally Dee, a woman who’s sister disappeared years ago and is on a mission to find her sister and the person who took her. The story starts off as a mystery of what happened to Dee’s missing sister and what has happened to said sister but unfurls into a deeper question of what has happened to Ted and there is definitely a paranormal aspect to the story. I thought it was interesting to include Olivia’s perspective and the story definitely gives off a “Behind Her Eyes” vibe. Each voice is distinct and the whole unfurling of what actually happened is interesting. Definitely a fun read and perfect for the upcoming spooky season!

A snow princess, a medicine man, and forbidden romance. Willow Taylor comes from a family of independent, beautiful women... but she’s alway known something was off in her blood. On her 18th birthday... she tries to kill herself and ends up in a large castle that is actually Heartstone Psychiatric Hospital, originally built by a doctor for his wife who was his patient. Willow has to stay there for more weeks. She bides her time by talking with her friends, avoiding confronting the birthday incident, and thinking about her favorite book series, Harry Potter. When a new doctors is transferred in things begin to change. Willow has always considered herself an ice princess, with long silvery hair and blue eyes and pale skin, it fits. When the new doctor comes she realizes that she’s just met the Ice King. Dr. Simon Alistair Blackwood, grumpy, handsome, cold, and the son of the doctor who built Heartstone Psychiatric Hospital. Simon is dealing with his own demons, he had to leave his previous work place due to an incident with a patient, and is haunted by his own mother’s suicide and the fact that he wants nothing to be like his father, and that means not falling in love with the beautiful young patient. Simon and Willow are constantly watching each other, dancing around their issues and feelings. The chemistry and forbidden romance is PROMINENT in this book. I absolutely adored it. There is an age gap, there is FORBIDDEN ROMANCE, and but if you go into it knowing that and are fine with it, it’s a pleasant and really good read. The book alternates between Simon and WIllow’s POV ( but mostly Willow’s) and deals with a lot of issues of depression, mental health, eating disorders, suicide, and trauma. I definitely will be picking up the rest of the books!
Best friends since she was a kid, Fallon Blackwood and Dean Collins are about to go on a road trip that will change everything. Fallon and Dean have known each other all their lives, when Dean moved out to work in California, Fallon moved out to go to school to be around him... and yet for the past four months they haven’t seen each other at all. Fallon comes up with a great idea: go on a road trip together, forcing him to spend time off of work. Fallon and Dean have always cared for each other and Fallon is hopelessly in love with him... the only issue is that everyone including Dean Collins thinks he’s too old for her. Dean has always been the one person there for her, the one to take care of her, the one to watch after her. Fallon wants to go on this road trip to finally see if they could be more, now she’ll have to convince Dean he is the perfect person for her. Dean is a lawyer, he’s known Fallon’s family ever since they took care of him when he was a kid and his own father dropped out of his life. He adores Fallon but he wants her to go out with guys her own age, he doesn’t think what she feels for him is love but more like the fact that he’s always been there... except the moment he’s alone in a car with her he can’t seem to keep his sanity, it doesn’t help that she’s absolutely beautiful, feisty, and the one person he’s been in love with but is off limits. This is going to be one long road trip, throw in cameos of our favorite couples from the first book as well as a new future couple, and it’s honestly a very cute read!
Four girls enter into a cave... only three come out. Two of them are injured and rushed to the hospital and the remaining one is soaked in blood and ready to talk. The story follows Amelie Desmarais, a girl who’s been sick all her life but has somehow found a hobby in a now-defunct thrill-seeking group, she use to go with her cousin and best friend until a terrible accident that has injured her cousin Sasha. Now Amelie is ready to go on the trip that Sasha so badly wanted to go on, a trip into a dangerous cave to find a lake that the Colorado locals call “The Sublime” that is filled with lore... and believed will change you after you face your greatest fear. Along for the journey is Devon, Gia, and H. All four girls have their own reason for going on this trip but the moment they go into the cave things begin to get complicated. The story is told between present day ( with Amelie being interviewed by the cops) and past with her recounting the journey. The cave is dangerous... but there might be something in there with them, hunting them down, and the only way out is through, but as they begin to lose each other, and secrets spill out, who knows what will happen next as they are forced to face the darkness. Amelie has her own dark secrets and the story reveals her part in her cousin’s accident as well as what truly lead to the four girls going to the cave. The story had a nice “The Descent” movie kind of vibe to it but lacked the actual scare and good execution that the movie had. The story does have a lot of atmospheric parts, but the characters were hard to get attached to and the plot just wasn’t as interesting as I would have hoped. The overall ending was okay, I guess I was just expecting something a little more from a book with such an interesting premise and beautiful horror cover. Overall, it’s a good read if you like a little bit of horror so definitely give it a try, even if it was lacking for me it might be for you ( I’m a hardcore horror lover so I might have judged it a little harder than I normally would have).

A young man encounters the Grim Reaper who is searching for a successor. The story deals with an abused, grief-stricken and impoverished Sonny who is just trying to get by day by day after the death of his father. He has a turbulent relationship with his mother and after moving to a new town for a new start, Sonny begins to notice that someone, or something else has come with them... cue Death the Grim Reaper. Death has been alive for 1000 years and is searching for someone to take over. Along for the journey is Jess, a beautiful girl who is the daughter of a pastor who misses her mother. This is a story about grief and about life. The story was formatted in an interesting way and filled with little quotes throughout. Overall, it was an okay read. Death was pretty quirky for someone who is 1000 years old.

Throw in some very light romance, a good mystery, and political intrigue, and this was a really fun read! Its the perfect blend of murder mystery with tension and budding romance with high stakes. Seriously go give it a read!
A scribe, a fairy, and a deputy all converge in this short and sweet story about politics and romance. The story follows Lana Baker, a scribe who is definitely a lady’s lady. She’s got a sharp wit and a fine pen. When she agrees to deliver a message for a beautiful scribe in exchange for kisses, she ends up in a situation she never thought she would be in. She is sent to Low parliament by a temperamental fairy and now has to transcribe endless circular arguments of Parliament. There she meets Bugbite, a fiesty fiery, and Eloquentia, a bewitching human deputy. These three ladies will debate, fall in love with each other, and maybe even save humanity. A sweet overall ending.

One for the Throne and the second for the Wolf. In a world where second daughters are sacrificed to the wolf, given to the woods in hopes that the wolf in the woods would return the gods that have been captured, one girl will destroy it all/ Red is the only Second Daughter to be born in centuries and has only one purpose, to be sacrificed to the wolf in the Woods. After a terrible incident in which her growing powers got out of hand, she lives in constant fear of harming her sister and the people around her. She is relieved when it is her time to go, she can’t wait to be finally be safely away from causing harm to those she cares about as her powers are barely restrained. But the moment she enters the woods she discovers that the “wolf” isn’t so much a wolf but a man with a very sour disposition who is hellbent on containing all the monsters in the woods from getting out. Red soon discovers that her magic isn’t so much a curse but rather a calling and that she can stop the monsters from getting out and stop the woods from killing... but only if she is brave enough to embrace her magic. Eammon, the Wolf, is intertwined with the Wilderwoods and has been sacrificing parts of himself, mostly his blood in order to control it. But the moment Red arrives, something is different, his blood isnt enough, and now he will have to work with Red if they want to protect the woods from consuming them. All the while Neve, Red’s sister, who is meant for the throne is determined to get her back no matter what. But the more she spirals down this path the more dangers she unlocks and soon both Red and Neve will find themselves in more danger than they could have imagined and more political games than they either thought. Old gods, monsters, dangerous woods, and bargains will be made. This was definitely a new take on Beauty and the Beast, and in the best possible folksy wood-magic way, with romance, blood, sacrifices, and gods. I adored this book. i loved Eammon and Red’s relationship so much, they both love and care for the other, constantly choosing to protect the other before themselves and willing to sacrifice. I can’t wait to read the second book!
Kings to kill, gods to fight, and being stranded with the one person who has broken your trust is not the way Queen Neve thought her day would be going. The sequel to For the Wolf picks up where the first book ended, Red has become one with the Wilderwood and is living as part of it with her husband and Neve has fallen into the Shadowlands with Solmir, a ex-king who had tricked her... while also strangely has been taking care of her. Solmir has a different agenda, his entire goal is to kill the Five kings before they come back and will do everything to achieve his goals because if they are released they will destroy the entire world. Neve is now stranded in the Shadowlands with the one person she didn’t want to be, the one person who she had trusted and had found herself feeling something for, only to have the mask ripped off.. and yet despite his monstrousness, his cruelty, there is something more in the way he looks at her, the way he protects her. The only way to get out of the Shadowlands and stop the kings is if they both work together. But can they trust one another despite all their lies and deeds? Can they be willing to make the ultimate sacrifice as the more the go on this journey the more they discover they have in common... and that there is something there between them. While this is all happening Red and co are all trying to find a way to save Neve while dealing with the consequences of the first book, being that Red and Eammon are now magical immortal beings that are part Wilderwood and that there is also a mysterious new person in their group who has her own agenda. This was a great way to wrap up the story and get to know both Neve and Solmir more. I absolutely adored them, their romance is tragic, angsty, and beautiful. They are both willing to do whatever it takes for the ones they care about and are willing to get their hands dirty in order for the greater good. All in all, I have had a blast reading this duology and would definitely recommend it!
