A fun and adorable book about three pets and their adventures! The story follows a wiener dog, a cat, and a guinea pig who all live together with their owner. The artwork is really cute and the overall story was fun to read. This would make a great read for kids!

A sweet and beautifully illustrated story about a bear and hi song. A bear finds an instrument in the woods and wants to play the song to his friend Mouse, but suddenly other animals come and play other instruments before he can. The artwork is just beautiful, gorgeous, and so pretty. It’s a short and easy read, and very sweet. I would definitely recommend this book!

A girl with forbidden gifts, a prince who doesn’t want the crown, and a guard who just wants to survive the court with her forbidden lover. These three people are thrown together in a plot to overthrow the king. Ren, a girl with magical powers that have been banned, has lived her life just trying to survive. Her entire family has died and she is working to just pay off her debt and protect her friends and her own life. All of that is threatened when she is kidnapped by two rebels, Marcus and Darek, who offer to pay her in exchange for her leading their rebelling ( which, she DOES NOT want any part of since if it gets out she has girts, she will be killed*). Let me be cleaf, Darek may be her love interest, but there was NO chemistry between them and if I’m being honest, I disliked him the entire time. Right off the bat he is so antagonistic to her, rude, he doesn’t even try to see it from her perspective. If anything, I would have rather Ren had no love interest or her and Kellan got together instead, literally anyone but Darek. Now, onto Prince Kellan, he is trying to avoid everything his family is doing and trying to find some semblance of happiness outside of his bloody family. Then theres my favorite character, Adley, a guard for the king who is forced to do unspeakable torture if she even hopes to maintain her station, or even get to keep her secret forbidden relationship with her girlfriend. I loved Adley’s story and her very soft relationship with her girlfriend. Overall, I loved Ren and Adley, I love ladies who are survivors and do what it takes for THEIR survival. Thats what bumped the book up a star in my mind, I really appreciated these kick ass ladies and just how much they were willing to do for their own survival because if you were in their shoes, you’d do everything to make sure your loved ones and your own life were going to make it out. The story was an interesting one overall, and I enjoyed getting to know these ladies.

“If I was a monster, then so was everyone else in this club. And for once I didn’t feel like such a freak. We could be monsters together.”

Scream meets Gossip Girl. The story follows new girl Rachel as she has moved to a new school after a horrific incident. Rachel was attacked in a home invasion and is now coping by obsessing over horror movies. When she arrives at a party and sees a fear prank occurring, she decides she has to get in on this club, regardless of if they want her or not. The club is the Mary Shelley Club, in which each member loves horror movies and participates in pranks that are to scare their potential victims into screaming. The club consists of moody jerk Bram, Stephen King obsessed Felicity, friendly jokester Thayer , and film nerd Freddie. Rachel becomes obsessed with getting into the club and essentially strong arms her way in, but even in this club she is an outsider. Things start to take a turn for the worst when the pranks begin to get out of hand and a “masked” figure is taking things to the extreme.

This book is filled with horror movie references and notes, and as a horror movie lover myself I really thought it was such a nice touch! Rachel was an okay character to me, I just could not fathom her blind-sidedness to all the RED FLAGS going around her. For someone who loves and obsesses over horror movies she sure missed ALL OF THE FLAGS. She stalked the club members and essentially said “ the more they reject me the more I want in” and when she gets in and is still not welcomed, she’s hurt. Ma’am. She continues to ignore all the flags and signs that she should immediately leave this club and, oh I don’t know, join a knitting club you’d be better off. None of the characters exactly hooked me and I could definitely see how this is similar to Scream Queens or Scream. The ending is abrupt, and oh boy did it just go from about a 50 to 100% real fast with who the villain was. Overall, this was an okay read and I did love the horror movie references, I just didn’t enjoy any of the characters all that much.

Scottie is a basketball player who is still in love with her ex. Irene is a cheerleader who is trying her best to not only prove to her family that cheerleading is an important sport but to prove that she is more than just a cheerleader. Scottie crashes into Irene’s car and thus begins the fake dating, enemies to lovers, rom com. Scottie offers to pay Irene money to fix her car and in exchange Irene would pretend to date her so Scottie could make her ex jealous. The only problem is that they are enemies. Irene is a funny and really mindful and sweet person as you get to know her.I absolutely fell in love with her. Scottie has a LOT to work through and its a bit messy but in the end it all works out. I loved their friends though, Honey-Belle was a sweetheart! I love getting read about sport sapphics and its so nice to read about supportive parents and families. Overall, it was a nice read.

A magical app that translates what boys really mean when they speak and a 12 year old matchmaker, what could go wrong? In this modern-day retelling of Emma by Jane Austen, the story follows Emmy, a girl who just wants to matchmake couples up. When a match for her best friend goes wrong, and she discovers the magical new app iSpeakBoy! which translates what boys mean when they really talk, Emmy takes it into her hands to try and make as many matches as possible. Too bad things start going wrong and now Emmy has to figure out how to really fix all the damage she’s done. Throw in old ex-best friend and neighbor, Grant Knightly, a shy artist Robby Martinez, and Emmy’s mom and a certain Mr. Weston, and the drama goes on!

This was definitely an interesting take on the classic Emma story. It had a lot of the classic elements while incorporating new ones. I think it would be a fun read for middle-grade readers!

A busy architect returns home to his ailing father only to find that his dad has decided to get engaged to a beautiful private nurse, who is 40 years younger than him. Beckett has always been consumed with work and his strained relationship with his father and stepmothers, however when his father’s health takes a turn for the worst, he decides to come home and try and spend time together. To his surprise, he is greeted by a much happier and friendlier dad and a gorgeous private nurse who Beckett finds himself falling for, too bad she’s engaged to his dad. Cora is a private nurse trying to make a living and sending money back to her family in the Philippines to help with medical issues. She’s become best friends with Chester (Beckett’s dad) and wants to help them repair their relationship as Chester doesn’t have a lot of time left. Chester offer Cora a deal, if she goes along with his fake engagement scheme he’ll help her with her financial situation and help her get money to her family. The only problem is that she might actually start be developing feelings for Beckett.

This was a funny and sweet rom com! I loved all the twists and turns and how fun Chester was as a matchmaker. Cora was super sweet and had a heart of gold! Beckett was a fun romance lead and it was just an overall great short read! I would definitely recommend it!
