Christmas themed murders? Sign me up. I was initially attracted to this book because the premise sounded so promising and fun. The story itself was a bit light and not as exciting as I would have hoped. The main plot revolves around a detective who has to move away to his wife's hometown after one of his criminals is released from prison. What was meant to be a nice holiday in a small town turns upside down once he receives a dead bird and a 12 days of Christmas themed card in which the writer promises to kill 12 people. Sounds interesting right? Welp for some reason I found myself lagging and not fully invested in the characters or the murders. Usually I am on board and interested, but this killings and the procedure just was so mundane compared to what I was expecting. The overall plot was all right and the characters were okay, I guessed the killer halfway into the book and was was right. It wraps up fine and this makes a fine Christmas themed mystery thriller.

This was definitely an interesting read. It came off completely different than what I was expecting from the premise of the book. This is a story about a girl named Greta who has to come back from her research project for her PhD because her twin brother has had a brain aneurysm. The entire plot is essentially Greta navigating her sudden new situation and trying to work around people. So, where to begin, the first thing I have to say is that Greta was hard for me to connect with and even as introverted and slightly prickly as I am, Greta took it to a whole new level.Greta is prickly, introverted, and has the social skills of a door, i.e. none. Every interaction she has with someone is stunted and makes her seem almost misanthropic. The only thing she really cares about is her twin brother and her PHD study in insects. The one glaring thing about her is her massive abandonment issues, since her mom left when she was younger. Greta is the worst to her brother's girlfriend and constantly treats her like trash, Greta is extremely angry at her mother who has come back to help her brother, and to her only friend Max, she barely reciprocates friendship. Greta is like this through the entire book until about the last 90% of the book. She really was not that likable and honestly at some parts of the book, I just wanted to shake her. The overall story is okay, but the inner narrative from Greta was a bit hard to bear especially with her constant anger and lamenting over all the things that upset her or how much she dislikes people. One nice thing about this story though was that I did enjoy learning more about butterflies.

A very cute book about a crocodile who has to leave home and is in search of a new place to call home. The art style of this book was really charming and the story was sweet. I think that the message of this book about never giving up and finding a new home was quite sweet. i think kids would really enjoy this book!
This was as if I had wrapped up an entire tv season of an arts academy in one book and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! I loved the realistic way in which anxiety and grief were portrayed. It was such a captivating story and honestly I couldn’t get enough. I enjoyed the miscommunication between the love interest and the banter between friends. I adored the angst and drama, but most of all I loved the protagonist’s journey to discovering her voice again after the death of her mom. I thourougly enjoyed this book and if I’m being honest I would love to read more about Antionette’s journey at her arts academy and her relationship with her friends and love interest!
I absolutely SHIPPED this book. This was a very cute enemies to lovers at work story. The story mainly revolves around Henley, who is competing for a promotion against her rival Graeme, who she absolutely loathes because he took credit for one of her ideas... or did he? The promotion requires both of them to go on a cruise together and pitch an idea, whoever has the best one will be the winner. Henley and Graeme are the epitome of the meme " oh no, hes hot" which I found hilarious. Henley is extremely hardworking and ambitious while Graeme is absolutely the pinnacle of charming and sweet. They both have flaws but they also really work well together. Reading about their slow progression into romance was wonderful and I had such a great time reading this story. The plot was great and the end wrapped everything up nicely. I would highly recommend this for romance lovers out there because this is just so sweet.

This was a wonderful book dealing on the topic of grief. I think that this is an important topic for kids and that this is a great way to talk about it with your kids. The art style of the book was charming and I absolutely loved the message of the book. This is an important topic to talk to your kids about and this book was a great way to start the conversation. I would highly recommend this book for all kids and parents!
This is a wonderful gender-bent retelling of the Phantom of the Opera. It is a truly magical story! How do I even begin to talk about this story, it is magical, heartbreaking, and memorable. The characters were all amazing and I can honestly say I adored them. The plot revolves around a girl who lives in the shadows at the opera who was born with marks on her face and powers, that she uses to extract memories from people through music. One bday she falls for a very sweet boy who sings like an angel. There is politics and angst and a broken corrupt kingdom that hunts down those with such magical abilities. She was an amazing protagonist and her pain, love, dear, and every motion she felt, was just so powerful. This was an overall wild journey but this story was absolutely wonderful. Isda was an amazing protagonist and I adored Emeric as an adorable caramel making boy, and their beautiful and magical bond. THAT ENDING THOUGH, it completely broke my heart and I am just ready to break down in tears. It was so bittersweet. In the end, please go read this book!

This was an interesting start to the series. I found myself definitely interested in the plot and am curious how the story will continue. I am definitely digging the victiorian, satanists, and demons vibes, definitely giving me a Penny Dreadful vibe that I love. The art was a bit not my taste but the story made up for it. The gothic horror story is an interesting one and I would definitely recommend you check it out.
