I wasn’t overly impressed with this book. This book was like a soap opera at an amusement park. The main character is kinda a hot mess and super awkward. I really didn’t like the fact this story played into the stereotype of bisexual girls pretending to date each other to get the attention of a guy. I also thought it was annoying Lou kept asking Seeley to lie to get the attention of Nick when Seeley was clearly not comfortable. The story also played into the stereotype of 2 best friends realizing they love each other. Overall I thought this whole story had bad LGBTQ representation and it wasn’t for me.

Holy crap!!!

I finished this book a few weeks ago and the more I think about the story as a whole the less I am liking it. Ok, so this book is different. The first 3/4 of this book are told through emails, letters, memos, etc. as Bee tries to piece together the reason for her mother’s disappearance. I don’t usually go for satire books because I find them hard to follow and I can’t really get into the story. This book was no exception. I didn’t really enjoy this book. While it really tried to be funny at times, I thought all the characters’ dialect was too similar and it was confusing to figure out who’s POV I was reading from. I thought it was a little sexist at times, especially when the women were labeled as crazy. By the end I was like “I don’t really care where Bernadette went I just want to be done with this book.” This book has been getting a lot of hype and I was wicked disappointed with the overall story. Maybe the movie will be better.
