It’s hard for me to put my thoughts into words for this book. I didn’t love this book but I also couldn’t look away. I wanted to see what happened to all the characters.

This book is bleak and brutal, yet tells a beautiful, sweeping story all the same. Most of the characters are awful people with very few redeeming qualities.

I did like how all the characters storylines intertwined at the end.

I'm a huge fan of Simmons St. James, but this book wasn't my favorite of hers. I never got truly invested like I wanted to. I felt like it was a bit too slow pace without a rewarding ending. I also wasn't a fan of the romance and felt like it got in the way of the spooks. I will say the writing was very atmospheric. There were some genuinely creepy moments at times.
