This book was my favorite out of the three! There were so many twists and turns around every corner. The action kicked off right away. I loved the on the run plot and how danger lurked around every corner.

The final book in the Seattle Witchcraft Coven series. I felt like this book wrapped up the first two nicely. My biggest complaints again were the pacing of the plot and the development of friendships between characters. The book was twisty and I did like the blend of humor mixed in with the horror.

DNF @86%

I know it seems silly to DNF this far into the book, but unfortunately I can’t continue with this book. The author reached out to me on Instagram to read and review the book. I agreed, hoping for a holiday tale full of creepy vampire Santa.

But what I got instead was a book full of pizza deliveries and every female character wanting to hook up with the male main character. Not to mention a few SA on our main character. And these are handled super lightly.

While a few creepy moments sprinkled in here and there, this book is not very horror driven to me. The creepy Santa is briefly introduced about 70% in… and at 86% we still haven’t seen vampire Santa in his full glory.

This book is just not the book for me. Every reader has their own likes/dislikes. I’m not trying to dissuade anyone from reading this book. Nor am I harping on anyone who likes it.

At the end of the day, I just can’t finish this. I tried my best to push through.

Thanks again to the author for reaching out to me and I wish him nothing but the best in his writing career.

Starting out strong for the new year!

Take Your Turn Teddy is a dark and chilling tale about a young boy named Teddy and the trauma he goes through at the hands of his father.

Definitely check content warnings such as domestic abuse.

I will say I enjoyed the first half of this book more than the second, but overall the story was one that had me hooked from the start. I didn’t expect many of the plot points on this book. I love it when I read a refreshing, original read.

Read if you like:

Creepy kids
Monsters in the basement
Imaginary “friends”
Small town vibes
Crime thrillers
Corn

I wanted to love this so much more than I did.

I loved The Last Housewife. It was in my top ten last year.

There was something about this book that didn’t pull me in. It was slower moving and the plot felt a tad predictable to me. I never felt invested in the story like I wanted to be.

This is a dark yet electrifying book.

You come for the story, and stay for the characters.

Definitely check your content warnings before picking this one up. There are some dark moments such as bullying, animal death, etc…

Overall, I loved this book. I was hooked from the second I picked it up, and kept wanting the story to continue long after the last page.
