I know nothing about motorcycles, but the descriptions of daring races and exhilarating escapes in this novel were exciting regardless. Ms. Sharp is very talented with action scenes.

Every book in this series reveals new depths - not just with Charlie and Sean, but the supporting cast as well. It gives it a very realistic, dramatic feel, despite the unbelievable feats that occur throughout the story.

SIGH. I would love one goddamn series about a kickass woman without
babies. The type of life Charlie and Sean lead is not conducive to having children. She will have to drastically sacrifice her career to have this goddamn kid. I did not read 7 books of this series just to read about pregnancy cravings, mood swings and the trials of motherhood.
It is 100% uninteresting to me.

Other than the highly irritating ending, I really enjoyed this novel. Of course, because of said ending, I am very wary of picking up the next book.

Mehhhh. I was hoping for urban fantasy, not paranormal romance.

This story is hampered by the fact that it is a prequel to a prequel and therefore the ending is already known.

That being said, I bet Qui-Gon and Kybo would have gotten along marvelously.

I believe I enjoyed this book mostly because the subject matter interests me so much. The actual writing is only subpar, better in some places than others. I spent the first half of it nominally involved, since a good part of their emotional investment in their plural marriage was only described in the vaguest terms. I understand that putting this book out placed the whole family in a very vulnerable position, but the reader shouldn't have to wait for someone to die before feeling invested in the 'characters'.

Despite these nit-picky bits, I think the Darger family has managed to create a good family dynamic that works for them. They are breath of fresh air in a cloud of oppressive religions (taking their opinions solely at face value), especially with all I've read about Warren Jeffs and his reprehensible leadership of the FLDS.

Ms. Woginrich has a very romantic view of farming, which seems to work for her. You really need to love that shit to live it. I was not familiar with her or her previous books, so I was VERY surprised to find out that her farm (Cold Antler Farm) is less than 15 miles away from my hometown! I think that helped bring me into her (somewhat sparsely mentioned) setting.
