It was so frustrating to see Anne doing Will's work for him and taking his jealousy-prompted abuse over and over. It was always, in the end, portrayed as something that came with his genius. I'm pretty sure people can be a genius in their craft and still manage to not be assholes all the time. Anne was as successful as a common-born woman could be, especially one with "foreign blood" in her, yet she set herself back with her near obsessive love for this man.

The history of the time period was probably my favourite part (and I think I could see Harper's love of Elizabeth I leaking through the pages a bit).

I enjoyed this for the supporting characters of Nimue/Colin and Britomart - I kept hoping for a romance to blossom, without the confusion of misunderstood genders.

Merlin was actually not very interesting, despite all the lore surrounding him. His insistence that he was a scholar and not a wizard was humorous, though. The very modern language in a very medieval setting didn't bother me as some of the other reviewers, though it was jarring at certain points.

This has a startling resemblance to Adrian Mole's secret diary, though I still enjoyed it for its own merits. I think Tim Collins was throwing a little shade on the Twilight series as well, what with the "watching you sleep" bit (it's boring and Chloe snored).
