We get to the action so quick in this series - other urban fantasy tend to draw it out more to add to the tension, but here we go from 0-100 immediately and it stays that way until the end. 

One of my favorite parts of the UF genre is how so often the main characters are completely and utterly outclassed by their enemies (not to be confused by antagonists/annoyances they can overpower with a look) - it makes the story and the struggle a lot more engaging.

I feel like Vince is a lot smarter than people give him credit for - or perhaps just more in touch with his manipulative fae side than expected for someone who prefers to interact with humans. Though he "fell for" Mab's plans for him, he certainly put together the pieces real quick when given a moment to think on it with new information.

Excellent start to a series - I wish there was a little more said about the state of the world and understanding our main characters, but we will likely see that in the coming novels.

Customer service is still customer service, even when superhumans are involved. I would love to see this concept in long form - it's giving me the same fun as Hench (I'm still patiently awaiting the sequel).

It always has to be babies ever after - but given the way they've been carrying on, it's not surprising. I just wish these couples could enjoy being together without a crisis for a little while before introducing a new and very stressful element.

Took me nearly an entire season to warm up to the ML (despite knowing he was being controlled) but the premise was interesting enough to keep me going. Plus, finally adults who have an adult perspective on sex.

I love reincarnation stories, but the art really isn't to my taste.

Definitely not gonna pick back up because it felt like a damn genre change - once the FL starts feeling threatened by ML, it's no longer fun and romantic for me.

Nothing says comfort like the ol' 1-2 punch of late stage capitalism & climate crisis.
