I loved this book! So glad my friend made me read it! It was a little weird reading it at the same time as 'Just Last Night' (a book with similar themes) since the "deaths" in this book were similar, but I really loved how grounded the magic felt
—nothing too crazy, just 'I can see and speak to ghosts' kind of thing
. The romance was top notch too, as in all Poston books, let's be honest, but I like how this one when from "enemies" to friends to lovers which is one of my favorites!
Also, the twist at the end was a great reveal!

This is the kind of romance that reads like a LitFic crossed with a Jane Austen book. There wasn't really a romance in the traditional sense—there was a great platonic romance, and a very crazy back and forth of friends, but the actual romance was maybe the C or D plot of the story really. Outside of that, this book wrote about grief so well. Some of the lines about it were just so spot on and beautifully done. There were a few things that were oddly written in terms of how the character's spoke or thought, but I chocked it up to it being very British. Though, a lot of it was very quippy and witty a la a Gilmore Girls episode honestly. Overall, the little quirks can absolutely be excused for the incredible story and writing!

This book definitely had its humorous moments, and it was very fun and lighthearted. I though it was going to be more of a look through Hockey History, but it was a bit more personal and focused on Hill's actual-factual odyssey around the globe as he both watched and played hockey with others. I didn't mind it, but the stories felt just a tad disjointed outside of "This Book is About Hockey." Overall, a good, fast-paced book, and definitely a nice, easy read for fans of the game!

A great read full of well-researched backstory on the men involved with the 1980 Winter Olympics and the "Miracle on Ice." The stories about all of the boys and coaches were extremely interesting and I loved learning about the event in a much more in-depth way. I think I liked the fact that the stories were told in a 3rd person POV and from Coffey's perspective as he learned about them — it gives the stories a bit more of an unbiased look which I always prefer in my nonfictions. Overall, an extremely interesting and insight read, and I highly recommend for any hockey fan!
